OF ORDINANCE NO. 728 OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA, AND REPEALING SECTIONS 75, 76,
77, 78, 80 AND 81 OF SAID ORDINANCE NO.
728.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Sections 35, 36, 37, 38, 69, 70 and 71
of Ordinance No. 728 of the City of Arcadia, entitled "AN ORDINANCE
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA REGULATING TRAFFIC UPON
.THE 'PUBLIC STREETS AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 200 OF SAID CITY,
ADOPTED JUNE 15, 1927, AND ALL OTHER ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDI-
NANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH", passed, approved and adopted October 5,
1948, be and the same are hereby ~mended to read respectively as
follows:
"SECTION 35. ONE-WAY STREETS, AND ALIEYS. The Council may,
by ordinance or resolution, specify the direction in which the ve-
hicular traffic shall move on any portion of any street or alley in
the City. Such ordinance or resolution shall authorize and direct
the erection and maintenance, at the intersection of every alley or
street with any portion of any alley or street upon which the direc-
tion of the vehicular traffic is thus specified, signs indicating the
direction in which vehicular traffic shall move.

"SECTION 36. OBEDIENCE TO ONE-\1AY SJ;GNS. When the dire:-

tion of the vehicular traffic on any street or alley or portion
thereof has been thus specified and directional signs erected as
hereinabove provided, no person shall operate any vehicle on any por-
tion of such street'. or a~,ley other than as thus specified and indi,-
cated by the signs thus erected.
. "SECTION 37. STOP. INTERSECTIONS. The City Council may ])y
ordinance or resolution designate any'street or portion thereof as a

through street, or any inte~section at whi~h vehicles are required
to stop at one or more intersections thereof, or any railroad grade
crossing at ~hich vehicles are required to stop.
"SECTION 38. SAME. OBEDIENCE TO STOP SIGN. When offi-
cial stop signs are erected at the entrace to any intersection or at
any railroad grade crossing designated by resolution or ordinance
adopted pursuant to the preceding section, every driver of a vehicle
shall stop as required by the Vehicle Code.
"SECTION 69. PARKING LIMITED OR PROHIBITED. The City
Council may, by ordinance or resolution, determine and establish
zones or places, in addition to those, described in other ordinances,
in or at which the stopping, standing or parking of vehicles is pro-
hibited or limited, or impose time limits on either the stopping,
standing or parking of vehicles ,therein, or prescribe the times when
the stopping, 'standing or parking of vehicles therein mayor may not,
be permitted or prohibited or limited.
"SECTION 70. SAME. OBEDIENCE TO SIGNS. Whenever the City
Council has determined, by resolution or ordinance, that the stopping,
standing or parking of vehicles in specified zones or places shall be
prohibited, limited or penmitted only at specified times or for speci-
fied periods, and authorized signs or marks are in place there, giv-
ing notice of such regulations, no persons shall stop, stand or park
any vehicle in any such specified zone or place, at any time if stop-
ping, standing or parking is proh~bited, or for a period exeeding the
time specified, if stopping, standing or parking is limited, or other
than at the times or ,for the periods thus specified,
"SECTION 71. PARKING PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES ON CERTAIN
STREETS, The provisions of this ordinance prohibiting the stopping,
standing or parking of a' vehicle shall apply at all times unless speci-
fic times are otherwise expressly set forth, and except when it is
necessary to stop a vehicle to avoid conflict with other traffic or
in compliance with the directions of a police officer, or/and an of-
,ficial traffic c~rol device. The provisions of this ordinance

imposing a time limit on standing or parking shall not relieve any
person from the duty to observe other and more restrictive provisions
of any ordinance prohibiting or limiting the standing or parking of
vehicles at specified places or at specified times."
SECTION 2. That Sections 75, 76, 77, 78, 80 and 81 of said
Ordinance No. 728 be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this ordinance and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days from
the passage thereof, shall cause the same to be published once in
the Arcadia Tribune, a newspaper of general circulation published
and circulated in the City of Arcadia.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
held on the 21st
day of August

vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit;
