AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA.
FIXING THE RATES OF TAXES AND
LEVYING TAXES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR
BEGINNING JULY 1, 1956.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES'
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That for the purpose of raising the sums of
money necessary to be raised by taxation upon the taxable property
of the City of Arcadia as a revenue to carryon the various depart-
ments of said City for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1956, the
rates of taxes for the different portions of the City of Arcadia are
hereby fixed, and taxes are hereby levied on all taxable property in
the different portions of said City for the fiscal year beginning
July 1, 1956, in the number of cents upon each one hundred dollars
($100.00) of the assessed value of said property as assessed by the
County Assessor and equalized by the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Los Angeles, for the several funds and purposes set forth
in the following table, the taxes levied upon property in each por-
tion of said City'hereinafter described and designated by a district
number being at the rates set opposite the designations of the
respective funds in the column headed by the district number which
is prefixed to the description of such portion of said City as
hereinafter stated.
SECTION 2. District No. 1 shall include and comprise all
that portion of the City of Arcadia inclu~ed within the boundaries
thereof as originally incorporated and all that territory annexed to
the City of Arcadia by the following annexations thereto: West
Arcadia Annexation No.7, pursuant to Ordinance No. 848, adopted
May 20, 1952j West Arcadia Annexation No.8, pursuant to Ordinance
No. 881, adopted February 16, 1954; West Arcadia Annex No.9,

pursuant to Ordinance No. 882, adopted February 16, 1954j Arcadia
Annexation No. 10, Highland Territory No.2, pursuant to Ordinance
No. 895, adopted July 6, 1954j Southeast Arcadia Annexation No. 11,
pursuant to Ordinance No. 915. adopted May 17, 1955; North Arcadia
Annexation No. 12, pursuant to Ordinance No. 932, adopted November 1,
1955j North Arcadia Annexation No. 13, pursuant to Ordinance No. 933,
adopted November 1, 1955j and West Arcadia Annexation No. 14. pursu-
ant to Ordinance No. 938, adopted December 20, 1955.
District No. 2 shall include and comprise all of the City
of Arcadia as, the same eXisted on February 1, 1956, except those por-
tions thereof hereinbefore included in District No. 1 and excepting'
those portions thereof hereinafter included within District No.3.
District No. 3 shall include all that territory annexed
to the City of Arcadia by the following annexations thereto: West
Arcadia Annexations Nos. 5 and 6, pursuant to Ordinance No. 805,
adopted April 4, 1950; and Foothill Boulevard Annexation No~ 1, pur-,
suant to Ordinance No. 891, adopted May 18, 1954.
SECTION 3. For the purpose of raising the sums of money
necessary to be raised by taxation upon the real property within the
respective districts hereinafter described to pay for the items of
maintenance and operation furnished the street lighting systems
therein, the rates of taxes for the respective portions and districts
of the City of Arcadia are hereby fixed and taxes are hereby levied
on all real property in the'respective districts in portions of said
City for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1956, in the number of
cents upon each one hundred dollars ($100,00) of assessed value of
said real property as assessed by the County Assessor and equalized
by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles. The re,-
spective lighting maintenance districts are described as follows:
Arcadia Lighting Maintenance District No.4, which includes
and shall include and comprise all that. portion of the City of Ar-
cadia included within Lighting Maintenance District No.4, as

ordered formed by Resolution No. 2249 of the City Council of the
City of Arcadia adopted May 20, 1952, and described in the map on
file in the office of the City Clerk and heretofore approved by the
City Council of the City of Arcadia by Resolution No. 2205 of said
City Council adopted December 18. 1951, a copy of said map of Ar-
yadia Lighting Maintenance District No.4, together with a legal
description of the real property included within said Arcadia Light-
ing Maintenance District No. 4 having been heretofore filed with the
County Assessor and with the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles
County and with the State Board of Equalization of the State of Cali-
forniaj
Arcadia Lighting Maintenance District No.5, which includes
and shall include and comprise all that portion of the City of Ar..
cadia included within Lighting Maintenance District No.5, as ordered
formed by Resolution No. 2365 of the City Council of the City of Ar-
cadia adopted April 21, 1953, and described in the map on file in the
office of the City Clerk and heretofore approved by the City Council
of the City of Arcadia by Resolution' No. 2338 of said ,C'i ty, Council
adopted March 3, -1953, a copy of said map of Arcadia Lighting Main-
tenance, District No.5, together with a legal description of the real
property included within said Arcadia Lighting Maintenance District
No.5 having been heretofore filed with the County, Assessor and wi.th
the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County and with the State
Board of Equalization of the state of Californiaj
Arcadia Lighting Maintenance District No.6, Zones 1 and. 2,
which includes and shall include and comprise all that portion of the
City of Arcadia included within Lighting Maintenance District No.6,
Zones 1 and 2, as ordered formed by Resolution No. 2480 of the City
Council of the City of Arcadia adopted February 16, 1954, and de-
scribed in the map on file in the office of the City Clerk and he~e-
tofore approved by the City Council of the City of Arcadia, a copy
of said map of Arcadia Lighting Maintenance District No.5, together

with a legal description of the real property included within said
Arcadia Lighting Maintenance District No.6, Zones 1 and'2, having
been heretofore filed with the County Assessor and with the Board of,
Supervisors of Los Angeles County and with the state Board of Equali-
zation of the State of California;
Arcadia Lighting Maintenance District No.7, Zone 1, which
includes and shall include and comprise all that portion of the City
of Arcadia included within Lighting Maintenance District No.7, Zone
1, as ordered formed by Resolution No. 2501 of the City Council of the
City of. Arcadia adopted May 18, 1954, and described in the map on
file in the office of the City Clerk and heretofore approved by the
City Council of the City of Arcadia by Resolution No. 2477 of said
City Council adopted April 6, 1954, a copy of said map of Arcadia
Lighting Maintenance District No.7, Zone 1, together with a legal
description of the real property included within said Arcadia Lighting
Maintenance District No.7, Zone 1, having been heretofore filed ~(ith
the County Assessor and with the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles
County and with the State Board of Equalization of the State of Cali-
fornia;
Arcadia Lighting Maintenance District No.8, Zone 1, which
includes and shall include and comprise all that portion of the City
of Arcadia included within Lighting Maintenance District No.8,
Zone 1, as ordered formed by Resolution No. 2594 of the City Council
of the City of Arcadia adopted February 15, 1955, and described in
the map on file in the office of the City Clerk and heretofore ap-
proved by the City Council of the City of Arcadia by Resolution No.
2581 of said City Council adopted .January 4, 1955, a copy of said map
of Arcadia Lighting l1aintenance District No. 8,' Zone 1, together with
a legal description of the real property included within said Arcadia
Lighting Maintenance District No.8, Zone 1, having been heretofore
filed with the County Assessor and with the Board of Supervisors of
Los Angeles County and with the State Board of Equalization of the
State of California;

Arcadia Lighting Maintenance District No. 10, Zone 1, which
includes and shall include and comprise all that portion of the City
of Arcadia included within Lighting Maintenance. District No. 10, Zone
1, as ordered formed by Resolution No. 2732 of the City Council of the
City of Arcadia adopted January 23, 1956, and described in the map on
file in the office of the City Clerk and heretofore approved by the
City Council of the City of Arcadia by Resolution No. 2723 of said
City Council adopted December 20, 1955, a copy of said map of Arcadia
Lighting Maintenance District No. 10, Zone 1, together with a legal,
description of the real property included within said Arcadia Light-
ing Maintenance District No. 10, Zone 1, having been heretofore
filed with the County Assessor and with the Board of Supervisors of
Los Angeles County and with the State Board .of Equalization of the
State of California.
SECTION 4. That the following table, referred to in Sec-
tion 1 hereinbefore, specifies the rates 'of taxes for the different
portions of the City for the several funds and purposes herein set
forth:

SECTION 5. That the following table referred to in Sec-
tion 3 hereinbefore specifies the rate of taxes for the different
portions of the City of Arcadia for the respective lighting mainte-
nance districts hereinbefore described:

SECTION 6. This Ordinance shall be effective upon its
adoption. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordi-
nance and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days from the pas-
sage thereof shall cause the same to be published once in the Arcadia
Tribune, a newspaper of general circulation pUblished and circulated
in the City of Arcadia.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance was adopted
adjourned
at a regularlffieeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held
