AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA.
CALIFORNIA, PROHIBITING CERTAIN
ADVERTISING STRUCTURES, SIGNS,AND
BILLBOARDS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That no ground sign, roof sign, wall sign,
electric sign, billboard or other advertising structure shall be
constructed, erected or altered within the City of Arcadia unless
such construction, erection or alteration conform in all respects
to the provisions of Ordinance No. 968 entitled "AN ORDINANCE OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, REGULATING ADVERTISING STRUCTURES,
SIGNS AND BILLBOARDS IN SAID qTY", passed, approved and adop:; ed
October 2, 1956.
SECTION 2. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be. neces-
sary as an emergency measure for preserving the public peace,
health and safety, and shall take effect immediately upon its
adoption. A statement of the reasons for its urgency is as fol-
lows:
Aforesaid Ordinance No. 968; adopted October 2, 1956, pro-
vides the only adequate comprehensive regulation of advertising
structures in the city. Said Ordinance No. 968 does not become ef-
fective until November 1, 1956, during which time there is no ade-
quate regulation of advertising structures. In order that the
public peace, health and safety may be preserved during such interim
period, it is necessary that this ordinance take effect immediately
so that advertising structures contrary to the provisions of said
Ordinance No. 968 and contrary and inimical to the public peace,
health or safety will not be erec,ted in the int.erim and thereafter
maintained.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once in
the Arcadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper of general circu-
lation, published and circulated in the City of Arcadia.
--M-. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted

on the 9th day of October, 1956, by the affirmative vote of at least
f:o_ur Councilmen, to wit:
