ORDINANCE NO. 973,
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, .
AMENDING SECTION II OF ORDINANCE NO.
760 AND ADDING TWO NEW SECTIONS,
NO. 10.l AND N<i). l5.l
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
DETERMINE AND ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
. SECTION 1. After public hearings before the City Plann:lng
Commission and the City Council, and upon reviewing and considering
all evidence presented thereat, that the public necessity, conven',
ience and general welfare require that Ordinance No. 760 of the City
of Arcadia be amended as hereinafter provided.
SECTION 2. That Section II of Ordinance No. 760 of the
City of Arcadia, entitled "AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING ZONES IN THE
CITY OF ARCADIA AND THEREIN REGULATING THE USE OF LAND: HEIGHT OF
BUILDINGS AND YARD SPACES: ADOPTING A MAP SHOI'iING THE BOUNDARIES OF
SAID ZONES: DEFINING THE TERMS USED IN THIS ORDINANQE: PROVIDING B'OR
ITS ADJUSTMENT, AMENDMENT AND ENFORCEMENT: PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR
VIOLATION AND REPEALING ORDINANCES OR PORTIONS OF ORDINANCES IN CON-
FLICT THEREWITH," adopted May 3, 1949, be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows:
SECTION 11: "M-l" LIGHT MANUFACTURING ZONE.

The following regulations shall apply .in the "M-l" Light
, ,
Manufacturing Zone unless otherwise provided in this Ordinance.
Buildings erected or structurally altered and used exclusively for
dwelling purposes shall comply with the front, side, and rear yard
regulations of the "R-3" Zone.
A. USE.
1. Any use permitted in the "C-M" Zone
2. Automobile dismantling and used parts storage
only when operated or maintained wholly within
a building
3. Blacksmith shop

Building material storage yard
Cabinet shop or furniture manufacture (Carpenter

Kennels, dog (4 or more adult dogs)
Laundry
Lumber yard
Mill, planing
Sheet metal shop
Shoe manufacture
Soap manufacture (cold mix only)
Stone monument works
storage warehouse
Storage space for transit and transportation
equipment except freight classification yard
Truck repairing and overhauling
Veterinary hospital
Accessory buildings and uses customarily incident
to any of the above uses when locat:M. on the same
lot
Parking space (See Section 15)
other kinds of manufacture, proceSSing or treat-
ment of products other than those which may be ob-
noxious or offensive by reason of emission of
odor, dust, smoke, gas, noise or other similar
characteristics, including hazards, provided that
the determination of the character of any use as
defined in this item shall be arrived at as set
forth in Section 15r paragraph A, Use, subparae;raph
1, General, item Ita I
B. HEIGHT.
No building hereafter erected, constructed or established
shall exceed four (4) stories or forty-five (45) feet.
C. FRONT YARD.
No front yard shall be required.
D. SIDE YARDS.

No side yards shall be required.
E. REAR YARD.
No rear yard shall be required.
F. LOT AREA PER FAMILY.
Every main building hereafter erected, constructed or
established shall have'a iot area of not less than seven hundred,and
fifty, (750) square feet per family; provided, however, that this regu-
lation' shall not apply to hotels or apartment hotels where no cooking

is done in any individual room, suite or apartment.
SECTION 3. That said Ordinance No. 760 be amended by adding
Section lO.l "C-M" Commercial-Manufacturing Zone, the same to read as
follows:
SECTION 10.1: "C-M" COMMERCIAL-MANUFACTURING ZONE.
The following regulations shall apply in the "C-M" Commer-

cial-Manufacturing Zone unless otherwise provided in this ordinance.
Buildings erected or structurally altered and used exclusively for
dwelling purposes shall comply with the front, side, and rear yard
regulations of the "R-3" Zone.
A. USE.
No building or land shall be used, and no building shall be
hereafter erected, constructed or established except for one or more
of the following uses:

Wholesale business, storage buildings and ware-
houses
Automobile laundry
Bakery

Catering or commissary
Cleaning and dyeing plant
Electric or neon sign manufacture

Garment manufacture
Laboratory, experimentalJ motion picture, testing

SECTION 4. That said Ordinance No. 760 be still further
, amended by adding Section l5.l General Provisions - Access, the same
, to read as follows:
SECTION i5.1: GENERAL PROVISIONS - ACCESS.
No property in a more restricted zone shall be used for
, ingress to or egress from property in a less restricted zone, other
than for purposes permitted in such more restricted zone.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certifY to the adoption
of this Ordinance and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days
from the passage thereof shall cause the same to be published once
in the Arcadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper of general cir-
culation, published and circulated in the City of Arcadia, and thirty

(30) days from and after the final passage thereof, said Ordinance
shall take effect and be in force.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held
on the 4th
day of December
, 1956, by the affirmative vote
of at least three Councilmen, to wit:
