HomeMy WebLinkAbout0937 ORDINANCE'NO. 937 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF: ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA; AMENDING SECTION l3A OF ORDINANCE NO. 630 OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA. THE CITY COUNCIL'. OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA; CALIFORNIA; DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 630 of the City of Arcadia, adopted February 18, 1947, entitled "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA; PROVIDING FOR 'THE SUPERVISION AND REGULATION OF THE TRANSPORTATION OF PERSONS FOR COMPENSATION UPON THE PUBLIC , , STREETS AND PRESCRmING P~ALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF", is hereby amended by amending Section l3A thereof to read as follows: "SECTION l3A. (a) No owner operating any automobile for hire shall operate such automobile unless it is equipped with a taximeter of such type an~ design as may be approved by the City Council. Every owner using any taximeter ,shall at all times keep such meter accurate. Such meter shall be subJect to inspection from time to time. Any pqlice officer of the City of Arcadia is authorized at his instance, or upon the complaint of any person, , , to investigate such taximeter, and upon the discovery of anY inac- curacy of said taximeter tO,remove any such automobile equipped, with such taximeter from the streets until said taximeter shall have been correctly adJusted. (b) All automopiles for hire must base their charges on taximeters, and all taximeters shall be placed so that the reading dial showing the amount to be charged shall be well lighted and readily discernible,by 'the passeriger ridihg in such automobile.
