HomeMy WebLinkAbout0938 ORDINANCE NO. 938 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA; CALIFORNIA; APPROVING THE ANNEXATION TO SAID CITY OF THAT CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY CONTIGUOUS TO SAID CITY, DESCRIBED IN RESOLUTION NO. 2689; ADOPTED BY SAID CITY COUNCIL ON OCTOBER 18, 1955, AND DESIGNATED THEREIN AS WEST ARCADIA ANNEXATION NO. 14. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA; !: DOES HEREBY DETERMINE AND, ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Arcadia did, on its own motion, on October 18, 1955, adopted Resolution No. , , 2689 entitled "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA; CALIFORNIAj GIVING NOTICE OF THE PROPOSED ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY ADJACENT TO AND CONTIGUOUS WITH THE PRESENT CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA; THE SAME BEING SITUATED NEAR THE SOUTHWESTERLY PORTION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA AND DESIGNATED AS WEST , ARCADIA ANNEXATION NO. l4~" ,which Resolution recited that the pro- , ceedings for the annexati9n of the territory hereinafter described were initiated on the said Council's 'own motion, and stated the reasons for which the said Council desires to annex said territory, and which Resolution further specifically described the boundaries of the territory sought tp be included in said City, and fixed'Tues- day, December 6, 1955, at: the hour of 8:00 o'clock ~.m. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall of said City, as the day, hour and place for any person owning real'property within such terri. tory so proposed to be annexed and having any objections to the -, ,'. . That; on the 6th day of' June, 1955, there was filed with the City Clerk the written consent of the owners of all of the real property so proposed to be annexed to the City of Arcadia, '! 'wherein consent was given that the,said property, after its annexa- tion tO,the City of Arcadl,a, may ,be taxed equally with the property w~hin the City of Arcadia, to pay the bonded indebtedness of the City of Arcadia, both interest ,and principle, ,outstanding on the date of such annexation, h~retofore authorized and issued by the City Council of the City of Arcadia, to wit: 1919 Water Bonds 1927 water Bonds 1929 Library Bo~ds 1946 Sewer Bonds SECTION 4. That under and pursuant to and in accordance with the provisions of an act of the Legislature of the,State of California, ,entitled "Annexation of Uninhapited Territory Act of 1939", the annexation to ~he City of Arcadia of that certain unin- , habited territory contiguous to said City as described in Resolu- tion No. 2689, adopted by the City Council of said City on October 18, 1955, therein designated as West Arcadia Annexation No. 14, be and the same is hereby ratified, confirmed and approved. ' That a specific description of the boundaries of said ' -2- 938 terr1tory,' as submitted to and favorably reported upon by the Bound- ary Commission of Los Angeles County, ,pursuant to Section 35002 of the California Government 'Code, is as follows: " Beginning at the intersection of the westerly boundary line 'pf the' City. Maps,:Book 6, Page 137, ,Records of Los-Angeles County; thence westerly along said'southerly line to the southeast corner of Lot 1, Tract No. 19681, Maps, Book 511, Pages 29 and 27, records of said county; thence westerly along the south- erly line of said Lot 1 to the southwesterly ,corner thereof; thence northerly along the west- erly line of said Lot 1 to the northwest corner thereof; thence northerly in a direct line'to the southwest corner of Lot 17, said Tract No. 19681; thence northerly along the westerly line of said Lot 17 to the northwest corner thereof; said northwest corner bei~ in the northerly line of said Tract No. 19681; thence westerly along the northerly line ,of said Tract No. 19681 to the westerly line of Lot 4, Block G, said Map of Santa Anita Land Company's Tract; thence northerly along the westerly line of said Lot 4 to the northwest corner thereof; thence easterly along the northerly line ,of said Lot 4 to a line parallel with and distant 396 feet easterly of the westerly line of Lot l, Block G, said Map of Santa Anita Land Company's Tract; thence north~ erly along said: last mentioned parallel line and the northerly prolongation thereof to the south- erly boundary line of said City of Arcadia, as the same existed on July 1, 1955, said southerly . ' boundary line b~ing the northerly line of Camino Real Avenue; thence easterly along said aoutherly boundary line to the westerly boundary line of said City of Arcadia, as the same existed on July 1, 1955; thence southerly along said westerly boundary line to the point of beginning. SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days from the passage thereof:.shall cause the same to be published once in the Arcadia Tribune, a newspaper of general circulation pub- lished and circ~lated in 'the City of Arcadia, and thirty (30) days from and after thefinal'passage thereof said Ordinance shall take effect and be in force. The City Clerk., shall thereupon, on the tak1ng effect of this Ordinance, make and certify under the Seal of the City of Arcadia and transmit to the Secretary of State of the State, of.
