AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY CmUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING ORDINANCES NOS.
257 AND 454 OF SAID CITY.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION l. After public hearing and notice duly given as pro-
vided in Ordinance No.229 as amended, of theCity of Arcadia, that
Section 1 of Ordinance No.257 of said City be and the same is here-
by amended by adding thereto Section 1-1, the same to read as' follows:
"SECTION l-I. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in
Section 1 of Ordinance No.257 or the City of Arcadia, the setback
line of 35 teet heretofore established on the East side of Second
Avenue is hereby changed to lO feet from the East line of Second
Avenue as heretofore constituted, at the premises known as Lots l,
2, and 3, Block 6li, Arcadia Santa Anita Tract, per map recorded in
Book 16, Page 58, Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, locat-
ed at the Northeast corner of Duarte Road and Second Avenue.
"SECTION 2. That Section 2 ot Ordinance No.454 of the eity of
Arcadia be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto Section
2-a to read as follows:

"SECTION 2-a. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in
Section 2 of Ordinance No.454, the setback line of Lot 1 or 30 feet
heretofore established on the North side of Duarte Road on Lot 1,
Block 6lt, Arcadia Santa Anita Tract, per map recorded in Book l6,
Page 58, Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, and located
at the Northeast corner of Duarte Road and'Second Avenue, be and
the same is hereby .hanged to lO feet from the Northerly line of
Duarte Road as heretofore constituted~

SECTION 3. That each of the foregoing amendments shall be-
come effective upon the dedication to the City of Arcadia for
street purposes or the Westerly 10 teet ot Lots 1, 2 and 3, and the
Southerly 10 feet of Lot 1, Block 6li, Arcadia Santa Anita Tract,
per map recorded in Book l6, Page 58, Miscellaneous Records of Los
Angeles County, and the improvement of the portions thus dedicated
with curbs, gutters, driveways and pavement in accordance with

standards of the City of Arcadia.
SECTION 3., The City Council herein find and determine that
the aforesaid ~:ndments are reasonable and necessary because of
the commercial uses now permissible upon said premises by reason
of the variance heretofore granted and affecting said properties
heretofore restricted.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Ordinance and prior to the expiration of fifteen (l5) days
from the passage thereof# shall cause the same to be published once
in the Arcadia Bulletin, a newspaper of general circulation published
and circulated in the City of Arcadia, and thirty (30) days from and
after the final passage thereof said Ordinance shall take effect and
be in force.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted at

at~egular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held
on the 6th day of January. 1954, by the affirmative vote of
at least three CounCilmen, to-wit:
