ORDINANCE NO.882
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING ANNEXATION TO
SAID CITY OF CERTAIN TERRITORY DESIGNATED AS
WEST ARCADIA ANNEXATION NO.9.

WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the "Annexation of Unin-
habited Territory Act of 1939~ as amended, the verified petition of
the owners of the property as hereinafter described, was filed with
the City Council of the City of Arcadia requesting the annexation
to the City of Arcadia, State of California, of that certain unin-
habited territory adjacent to and contiguous with the present City
· limits of the City of Arcadia, designated as "West Arcadia Annexation
No.9", and more particularly described as follows, to-wit:
Beginning at the northwest corner of Lot 4, Santa Anita Land
Company's Pumping Plant No.l Tract, as shown on map record-
ed in Book lO, Page l83, of Maps, in the office of the Re-
corder of Los Angeles County, said point of beginning being
in the southerly line of Duarte Road, 60 feet wide, and on the
boundary line of the City of Arcadia as same existed on Septem-
ber 24, 1953; thence southerly 372.35 feet along the westerly
line of said Lot 4 and its southerly prolongation to a point;
thence easterly 114.77 feet parallel with the northerly line
of Lot 2 of said Santa Anita Land Company's Pumping Plant No.
1 Tract, to a point; thence southerly parallel with the wester-
ly line of said Lot 2, 285 feet more',or less to the northerly
line of Naomi Avenue 50 feet wide; thence easterly 100.9 feet
along the northerly line of said Naomi Avenue to the southwest
corner of Lot 23, Tract No.6925, as shown on map recorded in
Book 74, Page 79, of Maps, in the office of the Recorder of
Los Angeles County; thence northerly along the westerly line
of said Lot 23, 223.~1 feet more or less, to an angle point in
said boundary line of the City of Arcadia; thence westerly and
northerly along last mentioned boundary line and following the
same in all its various courses to the point of beginning, and

WHEREAS, all of said property thus proposed to be annexed is
owned by the aforesaid petitioners, and
WHEREAS, said proposal for the annexation of uninhabited terri-
tOry to the City of Arcadia had been submitted to and reported
favorably upon to the proponents thereof by the Boundary Commission
of the County of Los Angeles with respect to the defini~eness and
certainty of the proposed boundaries, pursuant to Section 35002 of
the Government Code of the State of California, and
WHEREAS, at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the
l7th day of November, 1953, Resolution No.2447 was adopted by said
CounCil, giving notice of and fixing the 22nd day of December, 1953,
at 8:00 o'clock P.M. in the Council Chambers of the City of Arcadia
as the day, hour and place when and where all persons owning real

and having any

objections to the proposed annexation might appear before the City
Council of the City of Arcadia and show cause why such territory
should not be so annexed, and
WHEREAS, a copy of said Resolution No.2447 was published
in the Arcadia Bulletin, a newspaper of general circulation published
in the City of Arcadia, at least twice, but not oftener than once a
week, which said publications were completed at least twenty days
prior to December 22, 1953, the date set for the hearing on said
annexation; and in the Pasadena Star News, a newspaper of general
circulation published outside of the City of Arcadia, but in the
County of Los Angeles, at least twice, but not oftener than once a
week, which said publications were completed at least twenty days
prior to December 22, 1953, the date set for the hearing on said an-
nexation, and
WHEREAS, written notice of such proposed annexation was given
to each person owning land within the territory to be annexed, all in
accordance with Section 353ll of the Government Code of the State of .
California, and
WHEREAS, no person has filed his name or address or the
designation of the lands in which he has any interest either legal
or equitable with the City Clerk of the City of Arcadia; and
WHEREAS, no persons owning real property in said territory
proposed to be annexed to the City of Arcadia appeared before the
City Council at the hour, day and place fixed in said Resolution
No.2447 aforesaid, who had any objections to such annexation to the
City of Arcadia; and
WHEREAS, the properties and territory hereinbefore des-
cribed are contiguous to properties within the corporate limits of
the City of Arcadia; and
WHEREAS, the property in territory hereinbefore described
is uninhabited within the meaning of Section 35303 of the Government
Code of the State of California; and
WHEREAS, on August 31, 1953, there was filed with the City
Clerk the written consent of the petitions as owners of all of the
property so proposed to be annexed to the City of Arcadia, wherein

consent was given that the said property after its annexation to
the City of Arcadia may be taxed equally with the property within
the City of Arcadia to pay the bonded indebtedness of the City of
Arcadia, both interest and principal outstanding on the date of such
annexation heretofore authorized and issued by theCity Council of
the City of Arcadia, to-wit:

WHEREAS, all proceedings have been in conformity with the law;
and
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES
HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION l. That under and pursuant to and in accordance with
the provisions of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939,
asanended, the annexation of that certain uninhabited territory con-
tiguous to said City of Arcadia and known and designated as "West'
Arcadia Annexation No.9", be and the same is hereby ratified, con-
firmed and approved, and the same is hereby ordained to be annexed to
and made a part of the City of Arcadia, California, and that such
property after its annexation to the City of Arcadia shall be taxed
equally with the property within the City of Arcadia to pay the bond-
ed indebtedness of the City outstanding on the date of such annex-
ation for

SECTION 2. That a specific description of the boundaries
of said territory is as follows:
Beginning at the northwest corner of Lot 4, Santa Anita Land
Company's Pumping Plant No.1 Tract, as shown on map recorded
in Book lO, Page 183, of Maps, in the office of the Recorder
of Los Angeles County, said point of beginning being in the
southerly line of Duarte Road, 60 feet wide, and on the
boundary line of the City of Arcadia as same existed on

September 24, 1953; thence southerly 372.35 feet along
the westerly line of said Lot 4 and its southerly prolonga-
tion to a point; thence easterly ll4.77 feet parallel with
the northerly line of Lot 2 of said Santa Anita Land Company's
Pumping Plant No.1 Tract, to a poipt; thence southerly
parallel with the westerly line of said Lot 2, 285 feet
more or less to the northerly line of Naomi Avenue 50 feet
wide; thence easterly lOO.9 feet along the northerly line
of said Naomi Avenue to the southwest corner of Lot 23,
Tract No.6925, as shown on map recorded in Book 74, Page 79,
of Maps, in the office of the Recorder of Los Angeles County
thence northerly along the westerly line of said Lot 23,
223.7l feet more or less, to an angle point in said boundary
line of the City of Arcadia; thence westerly and northerly
along last mentioned boundary line md following the same
in all its various courses to the point of beginning, ~H,
SECTION 3. That the boundaries of the City of Arcadia,
Cs.lifornia. be' and the same are hereby altered to include the above

described territory, the annexation of which is hereby approved and
ordained herein and incorporated in the City of Arcadia, California.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Ordinance and prior to the expiration of fifteen (l5l days from
the passage thereof shall cause the same to be published once in the
Arcadia Bulletin, a newspaper of general circulation published and
circulated in the City of Arcadia, and thirty days from and after the
final passage thereof said Ordinance shall take effect and be in force.

The City Clerk shall thereupon,jthe taking effect of this
Ordinance, make and certify under the Seal. of the City of Arcadia
and transmit to the Secretary of State of the State of California, a
copy of this Ordinance giving the date of its passage.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held
on the 16th day of
