ORDINANCE NO. 885
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, RECLASSIFYING CERTAIN
REAL PROPERTY IN SAID CITY FOR ZONING PUR-
POSES AND ESTABLISHING SAID PROPERTY IN ZONES
R-3 and C-2' OF SAID CITY.
THE CIry COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to the recommendation of the Plan-
ning Commission of the City of Arcadia made after public hearings
duly held and noticed, a public hearing likewise having been duly
noticed and held before the City Council of said City, and pur-
suant to Section 65806 of the California Government Code, the
property presently proposed to be annexed to the City of Arcadia
and presently in the County of Los Angeles, State of California,
and adjacent to and contiguous with the present boundaries of the

City of Arcadia and particularly described as follows:
Parcel No.1. A part of Lot 8. Block A, of the
Santa Anita Land Company's Tract as shown on
map recorded in Book 6, page 137 of Maps in the
office of the Recorder of the County of Los
Angeles, beginning at the sou:t'hwesterly corner
of "West Arcadia Annex No.6", thence southerly
parallel with the westerly line of Lot 5 of said
Block and Tract to the northerly line of said
Lot 8, being the true point of beginning; tl)3nce
westerly along said northerly line to the
easterly line of the westerly 90 feet of said
Lot 8; thence southerly along said easterly line
to the northerly line of the southerly l76.l
feet of said Lot 8; thence easterly along said
last mentioned northerly line to the easterly
line of the westerly 329.14 feet of said Lot 8;
thence southerly along said last mentioned
easterly line to the southerly line of said
Lot 8; thence easterly along said southerly

the westerly line of said Lot 8 to tte northerly
line of the southerly 176.1 feet of said Lot 8;

Tract, as shown on map recorded in Book lO,
page 183 of Maps, in the office of the
Recorder of Los Angeles County, beginning at
the northwest corner of Lot 4 of sai d Tract;
thence southerly )72.35 feet along the westerly
line of said Lot 4 and its southerly pro-
longation to a point~ thence easterly 105 feet
parallel with the ror.therly line of Lot 2 of

shall contemporaneously with end effective upon its annexation
to the City of Arcadia be zoned and established as a district in
Zone R-3 under the provisions of Ordinance No. 760 of said City,
adopted May 3, 1949 and said Ordinance No. 760 am the map therein

property presently proposed to be annexed to the City of Arcadia

City of Arcadia and particularly described as follows;
Parcel No.3. A part of Lots 5 and 8 of sald
Block A, Santa Anita Land Company's Tract,
beginning at the southeasterly corner of "West
Arcadia Annex No.4", to the City of Arcadia,
thence westerly, southerly and westerly along
the boundarl of said City as same existed on
September 24-, 1953, to the southwesterly cor-
ner of "West Arcadia Annex No.6" to said City;
thence southerly, parallel with the westerly
line of Lots 5 and 8 in said block and tract

Tract, beginning at a point in the northerly
line of said Lot 4 distant 105 feet easterly
from the northwest corner 0 f s aid lot; thence
southerly 373.11 feet parallel with the westerly
line of said Lot 4 and its southerly prolonga-
tion to a point; thence easterly 9.77 feet
parallel with the northerly line of Lot 2 of
said Tract to a point;: thence southerly parallel
with the westerly line of said Lot 2, 285 feet
more or less, to the northerly line of Naomi
Avenue 50 feet wide; thence easterly lOO.9 feet
along the northerl y line of said Naomi Avenue
to the southwest corner of Lot 23, Tract No. 6925,
as shown on m~ recorded in Book 74, page 79 of
Maps, in the office of the Recorder of Los

SECTION 3. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an
emergency measure necessary for preserving the public peace,
heal th end safety and is adopted pursuant to Section 65806 of the

Government Code of the State of California. A statement of the
reasons for its urgency is as follows: The property hereinabove
described .is in the course of annexation to the City of Arcadia.

The proceedings have been duly held to determine the proper
classification of such property. Unless the within Ordinance be
adopted the property would otherwise be zoned R-l under the pro-
visions of Ordinance 760 contrary to its best and highest use,

good planning principles and the needs 0 f the community.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adop-
tion of this Ordinance and prior to the expiration of Fifteen
(l5) days from the passage thereof, shall cause the same to be
published once in the Arcadia Bulletin, a newspaper of general
circulation, published and circulated in the City of Arcadia.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was
adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Arcadia, held on the l6th day of February, 1954, by the affirma-
tive vote of at least three Councilmen, to-wit:
