ORDINANCE NO. 881
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING ORDINANCE
NO. 343 OF SAID CITY.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. That Section 1 of Ordinance No. 343 of said
City entitled "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA FIXING THE RATES AND COMPENSATION TO BE CHARGED AND COL-
LECTED BY SAID CITY OF ARCADIA FOR SUPPLYING WATER FOR DOMESTIC,
IRRIGATION AND OTHER PURPOSES TO THE INHABITANTS OF SAID CITY,
PRESCRIBING RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE GOVERNMENT OF THE WATER
.
SERVICE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF, AND
REPEALING ORDINANCES NOS. 66, 67, 69, ~~, 98, 1l3, ll9, 120, 135,
l64 AND 165 OF SAID CITY OF ARCADIA AND ALL OTHER ORDINANCES OR
PARTS OF ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY OF ARCADIA IN CONFLICT THEREWITH,
adopted November 4, 1936, be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"SECTION I. For all water furni.shed by the City of
Arcadia, billed to the consumer on and after
May 1
, 1954,
the following rates and compensation are hereby fixed and estab-
lished as the rate !O d compensation for each bi-monthly period, as
hereinafter provided to be charged and collected by the Water

Department.
MINIMUM CHARGE. For the first si~teeh"hundred.-(1600)
cubic feet or less of water used during any bi-monthly periOd,
the charge shall be determined in accordance with the size of
the metem through which it is distributed to the respective premi-
ses as follows:

QJJANTITY CHARGE
For all water used in excess of sixteen hundred (1600)
. cubic feet during any bi-monthly billing period, a charge of eight
(8) cents for each one hundred (100) cubic feet or portion thereof
shall be made.
In the case of all metered service in the City of Arcadia,
meters shall be read by the Water Department of the City of Arcadia
at intervals of approximately two calendar months, or as near
.
thereto as the convenient and efficient operation of said Depart-
ment will in the judgment of the Superintendent thereof permit.
The interval between two successive readings of a meter shall be
deemed and construed as a bi-monthly period for the purpose of com-
puting water bills and for all other purposes under this Ordinance
with ~espect to metered water service.

Water bills shall be rendered bi-monthly by the Water
Department of the City of Arcadia and within five (5) days, exclud-
ing holidays, after the period represented by such bill.
As to all water service other than metered service, the
term "bi-monthly period" shall mean such period of approximately
two calendar months as the Superintendent of the Water Department
of the City of Arcadia may from time to time designate.
SECTION 2. Sections 5, 26 and 28 of said Ordinance No.
343 are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Ordinance and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days

from the passage thereof shall cause the same to be published once
in the Arcadia Bulletin, a newspaper of general circulation, pub-
lished and circulated in the City of Arcadia, and thirty (30) days
from and after the final passage thereof said Ordinance shall take
effect and be in force.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
