ORDINANCE NO. 803.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION 725
OF ORDINANCE NO. 781 OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
RELATING TO S~VERS, ADOPTED AUGUST 16, 1949.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Section 725 of Ordinance No. 781 of
the City of Arcadia, entitled, "An Ordinance of the City Council
of the City of Arcadia, California, regulating the design, construc-
tion, alteration, use and maintenance of public and house connect-
ion sewers, industrial connection sewers, sand and grease intercept-
ors, sand interceptors, grease interceptors, and appurtenances; the
abandonment of septic tanks, cesspools, seepage holes and dry pits;
the issuance of permits and the collection of fees therefor, inspect-
ing the construction and making record plans of the facilities per-
mitted hereunder; the making of deposits to assure faithful perform-
ance of work permitted hereunder; standard specifications for cons-
~ruction of sanitary sewer and providing penalties for violation of
any of the provisions thereof, and declaring the urgency herewith,
to take effect immediately," adopted August 16, 1949, be and the
same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 725: Buildings under Construction.
It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or
corporation to commence or proceed with the erection, cons-
truction, repair, raising, adding to, removal or demolition
of any building, unless such person, firm or corporation
shall place and maintain upon the site of such construction
work, for the use of any person employed or working upon
any such building or portion thereof, a water-flush toilet
enclosed within a suitable building or structure and con-
nected to a cesspool or sewer. In the event such cons-

truction work is being done upon two or more adjoining
lots or parcels of land by the ovmer thereof, or a con-
tractor, then such water flush toilet may be placed and
maintained by such owner or contractor upon any of such
lots or parcels of lan~provided such toilet is located
within a reasonable distance of the lot or premises upon
which such construction work is being done, and shall in
no case be located more than two hundred fifty (250) feet
from the site of the work being done.
In the event that a cesspool or sewer is not
available for use at or near the site of the proposed work,
the Building Inspector may authorize the temporary use of
a sanitary chemical toilet, but in no event shall a privy,
privy vault, dry privy or privy structure be erected, cons-
tructed, used or maintained at or upon the site of any such
construction work."
SECTION 2. That said Ordinance No. 781 be &mended as in
Section 1 of this Ordinance hereinabove set forth.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Ordinance and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days
from the passage thereof, shall cause the same to be pUblished once
in the Arcadia Bulletin, a newspaper of general circulation, published
and circulated in the City of Arcadia.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held
on the 4th day of April, 1950, by the affirm~tive vote of at least three
Councilmen, to wit:
