ORDINANCE NO. 804.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE ANNEXA-
TION OF CERTAIN TERRITORIES DESIGNATED AS
"WEST ARCADIA ANNEX NO. ~:5"AND "WEST ARCADIA
ANNEX NO.6", RESPECTIVELY.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the "An-
nexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939", (Stats. 1939, Ch.
297) as amended, the verified petition of Shopping Bag Properties,
Inc., a corporation, Fred Haas and Katherine Haas, was filed with
the City Council of the City of Arcadia, requesting the annexation
to the City of Arcadia, State of California, of that certain unin-
habited territory contiguous to the City of Arcadia, designated as
"West Arcadia Annex No.5", and more particularly described as
follows, to wit:
The east 50 feet of that portion of Lot 5,
Block "A" of-Santa Anita Land Company's Tract as per map
recorded in Book 6, page 137 of Maps of Los Angeles County,
California, more particularly described,as follows: Begin-
ning at a point in the northerly line of said lot, 266.98
feet west of the northeast corner of said lot, then west
along the northerly line 160, feet, thence south 8 degrees
50 minutes east 270 feet; then north 81 degrees 10 min-
utes, east 160 feet; then north 8 degrees 50 minutes,
west 270 feet to the point of beginning; except therefrom
the northerly 25 feet thereof included in public roadwaYi
and
WHEREAS, at a regular meeting of the City
Council, held on the 7th day of February, 1950, Resolution No. 1986
was adopted by said Council, giving notice of and fixing the 7th day
of March, 1950, at 8:00 O'clock P.M. in the Council Chamber in the

City Hall of the City of Arcadia, as the day, hour and place when
and where any and all persons owning real property within such
territory so proposed to be annexed, and having any objections to
the proposed annexation, might appear before the City Council of
the City of Arcadia and show cause why such territory should not
be so annexed; and
WHEREAS, a copy of said Resolution was published in
the City of Arcadia at the times and in the manner required by Sec-
tion 5 of said "Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939";
and
WHEREAS, no persons owning ~eal property within
said territory proposed to be annexed to the City of Arcadia appear-
ed before said City Council at the hour of 8:00 o'clock P.M., either
on the ?th day of March, 1950, or on the 21st day of March, 1950,
to which latter date the hearing provided for herein was continued,
and who had any objections whatsoever to the annexation of said
uninhabited territory to the City of Arcadia; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the "Annexa-
tion of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939" aforesaid, the verified
petition of Shopping Bag Properties, Inc., a corporation, John P.
Lewis and Mary A. Lewis, was filed with the said City Counc iI, re-
questing the annexation to the City of Arcadia, State of California,
of that certain uninhabited territory contiguous to the City of
Arcadia designated as "West Arcadia Annex No.6", and more parti-
cularly described as follows, to wit:
That portion of Lot 5 in Block "A" of Santa Anita
Land Company's Trac t, as per map recorded in Book 6, page
137 of Maps, in the office of the County Recorder of said
County, described as follows: Beginning at a point in
the north line of said lot 266.08 feet west of the north-
east corner of said lot; thence west along said north
line 160 feet; thence south 8050' east, 270 feet; thence

north 81010' east 160 feet; thence north 8050' west
270 feet to the point of beginning; except therefrom the
northerly 25 feet thereof included in public roadway, and
except the easterly 50 feet thereof;
and
WHEREAS, at a regular meeting of the City Council,
held on the 21st day of February, 1950, Resolution No. 1995 was adopt-
ed by said Council, giving notice of and fixing the 21st day of
March, 1950, at 8:00 o'clock P.M., in the Council Chamber in the City
Hall of the City of Arcadia, as the day, hour and place when and where
any and all persons owning real property within such territory so
proposed to be annexed, and having any objections to the proposed
annexation, might appear before the City Council of the City of
Arcadia and show cause why such territory should not be so annexed; and
WHEREAS, a copy of said Resolution was published in the
City of Arcadia at the times and in the manner required by Section 5
of said "Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939"; and
WHEREAS, no persons owning real property within said
territory proposed to be annexed to the City of Arcadia appeared be-
fore said City Council at the hour of 8:00 o'Clock P.M. on the 21st
day of March, 1950, who had any objections whatsoever to the annexa-
tion of said uninhabited territory to the City of Arcadia; and
WHEREAS, the properties and territories hereinbefore
described are bounded on the east by, and are contiguous to certain
property within the corporate limits of the City of Arcadia, to wit:
certain property upon and along Baldwin Avenue in said City of Ar-
cadia, County of Los Angeles, State of California; and
WHEREAS, all proceedings have been in conformity with

law;
NOW, THEREFORE, the annexation of those certain un-
inhabited territories contiguous to the City of Arcadia, in the
County of Los Angeles, State of California, designated respectively

as "West Arcadia Annex No.5" and "West Arcadia Annex No.6", as

hereinbefore more particularly describe?, hereby is, approved, and
the same are hereby ord~ined to be annexed tQ and made a part of
the City of Arcadia, Californi~.
SECTION 2. That the boundaries of the City of Arcadia,
California, be and the same are hereby ~ltered to include the above
described territories, the ffi1nexation of which is approved and or-
dained herein and incorporated in the City of Arcadia, California.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Ordinance and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days
from the passage thereof, shall cause the same to be published once
in the Arcadia Bulletin, a newspaper of general circulation, pub-
lished and circulated in the City of Arcadia, and thirty (30) days
from and after the final passage thereof said Ordinance shall take
effect and be in force.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
held on the 4th of April, 1950, by the affirmative vote of at least
three Councilmen, to wit:
