ORDINANCE NO. 808.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COffifCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, CHANGING THE SETBACK
LINES ON PORTIONS OF SUNSET BOULEVARD, CORTEZ
ROAD AND PORTOLA DRIVE, PUBLIC STREETS IN THE
CITY OF ARCADIA.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF A RCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to Resolution No. 1998, and after
a public hearing thereon, the City Council of the City of Arcadia
does hereby determine that the public peace, health, safety, int-
erest and public welfare require, and it is hereby ordered, that
the setback lines previously established on portions of Sunset
Boulevard, Cortez Road and portola Drive, public streets in the
City of Arcadia, be changed and re-established as hereinafter desig-
nated.
SECTION 2. That it shall be unlawful for any person,
firm, or corporation to erect, construct or locate any building or
other structure upon the following described parcels of land front-
ing on Sunset Boulevard, Cortez Road and Portola Drive, being
public streets in the City of Arcadia, unless such building or
other structure shall be set back to the following lines, respect-
ively, to wit:
(a) A setback line distant ten (10) feet easterly from
and parallel to the easterly line of Sunset Boulevard,
from Huntington Drive to Balboa Drive;
(b) A setback line distant ten (10) feet westerly from
and parallel to the westerly line of Cortez Road, from
Huntington Drive to Portola Drive;
(c) A setback line distant ten (10) feet southerly from
and parallel to the Southerly line of Portola Drive,
from Sunset Boulevard to Cortez Road.

SECTION 3. That all other portions of Ordinances in
conflict herewith be, and the same are hereby repealed; that this
repealing clause is not intended to affect any other Ordinance or
portion of Ordinance in the City of Arcadia not in conflict with
this Ordinance.
SECTION 4. That any person, firm or corporation violat-
ing ~y of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty
of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punishable
by a fine not exceeding Five Hundred Dollars ($500,000), or by
imprisonment in the City Jail of said City of Arcadia, or in the
County Jail of the County of Los Angeles, State of California, at
the discretion of the Committing Magistrate, for a period not exceed-
ing six (6) months, or by both such fine and imprisonment; and each
such person, firm or corporation shall be deemed guilty of a sep-
arate offense for each day during any portion of which the viola-
tion of, or failure, neglect or refusal to comply with, any of the
provisions of this Ordinance is committed, continued or permitted.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Ordinance and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days
from the passage thereof, shall cause the same to be published
once in the Arcadia Bulletin, a newspaper of general circulation,
published and circulated in the City of Arcadia, and thirty days
fromand after the final passage thereof said Ordinance shall take
effect and be in force.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
held on the 4th day of April, 1950, by the affirmative vote of at
least three Councilmen, to wit:
