SUB~: ORDINANCE 1843
Pursuant to direction of the City Council to provide the
appropriate documentation for a Charter Election to occur
on April 21, 1987, the attached Ordinance is a necessary
prerequisite to exempt Arcadia from the prescribed
election dates set forth in the California Elections Code.
Subject Ordinance authorizes the City Council of Arcadia
to conduct municipal elections at times other than those
specified in the State Elections Code. As a Charter City,
this is permissible as set forth in the preamble to the
Ordinance. The Ordinance provides a general exemption to
the Elections Code. Specific elections must still be
called by appropriate Resolutions.
If the City Council calls for an election on April 21,
1987 to consider a Charter amendment providing for
consolidated elections with the school district the
calling for that election requires a resolution of the
City Council no later than January 16, 1987.
