The attached ordinance prepared for City Council consideration will amend the Arcadia Municipal Code to reduce the Arcadia Historical Museum Commission membership to five (5) with all appointments made by the City Council. DISCUSSION On November 6, 2001, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 2151 establishing the Arcadia Historical Museum Commission which consisted of seven (7) members. The purpose of the Commission was to advise the City Council on matters relating to the Ruth and Charles Gilb Arcadia Historical Museum. Due to the changes last year in the direction of the Arcadia Historical Society to broaden their mission and not focus the same level of attention to the Museum, the City Council voted to reduce the membership of the Commission from seven (7) to five (5) effective June 30, 2012 with all appointments made by the City Council. The Commission will continue to have one (1) ex-officio non-voting member who shall be a member of the City staff appointed by the City Manager or designee. Honorable Mayor and City Council March 6, 2012 Page 2 In advance of the annual board and commission appointments in June, staff will provide the City Council with appointment options in order to accomplish the City Council's direction to reduce the membership of the Arcadia Historical Museum Commission from seven (7) to five (5) effective June 30, 2012. FISCAL IMPACT There is no fiscal impact with the adoption of Ordinance No. 2295.
