RESOLUTION NO. 4284
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ARCADIA PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT
TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA BY
ADDING SECTION 1209.5 RELATING TO A LOCAL
INCOME TAX.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Arcadia
hereby submits to the voters of said City a proposition to amend
the Charter of the City of Arcad~a by adding Section 1209.5 to
said Charter to read as follows:
"INCOME TAX LIMITATION.. The Council shall not
levy an income tax for any purpose, notwith-
standing any enabling act or other action by the
State Legislature, unless authorized by the
affirmative votes of a majority of the voters
voting on a proposition to levy such a tax at any
election at which the question of such tax is
submitted to the voters. The number of years
that such income tax is to be levied shall be
specified in such proposition."
SECTION 2. Said proposition shall be submitted to the
voters at a special city election to be held in the City of Arcadia
on the 7th day of November, 1972, and as set forth on the ballot
shall read as follows:
"Shall an amendment to the Charter of the City
of Arcadia, which provides for adding Sec-
tion 1209.5 to prohibit the levy or collection
of an income tax by the City Council without
a vote of the electorate, be adopted?"
SECTION 3. Said special election shall be consolidated
with the state-wide general election to be held on November 7, 1972.
Said election shall be conducted in accordance with Resolution
No. 4282 requesting the Board of Supervisors to consolidate said
election and in accordance with applicable law.

Said election shall be conducted in accordance with Resolution
No. 4282 requesting the Board of Supervisors to consolidate said
election and in accordance with applicable law.

SECTION 4. If a majority of the voters voting thereon
at said election shall vote in favor of the proposed Charter
amendment, it shall be submitted to the Legislature for approval
and shall be effective upon approval by the Legislature.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution.

adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Arcadia held on the 15th day of
