A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
1'HE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
COMMENDING THE ARCADIA OLYMPIC
COMMISSION AND RECOGNIZING THE DIS-
SOLUTION OF SAID COMMISSION
WHEREAS, various communities of Southern California hosted
the Games of the XXIII Olympiad, and
WHEREAS, the City of Arcadia, California was selected as the
site for the Olympic Equestrian Events, and
WHEREAS, in recognition of the Equestrian Events in Arcadia,
the City Council of the City of Arcadia by Resolution No. 5060
created the Arcadia Olympic Commission for the purpose of
stimulating international interest, recognition and goodwill for
the City during the Olympiad, and
WHEREAS, the Arcadia Olympic Commission performed numerous
valuable functions during the Olympiad including the rendition of
advise and information to the City Council and the Community, and
WHEREAS, the Olympic Commission assisted with the
coordination of various Olympic oriented activities and sponsored
various functions all to the betterment of the community and the
Olympic movement, and
WHEREAS, members of the Commission served the community and
the City on a volunteer basis with regard to this important
international event, and
,
WHEREAS, the Games of the XXIII Olympiad were successful in
all respects and the Equestrian Events at Santa Anita Race Track
in Arcadia were conducted in an outstanding manner to the benefit
of the City, State and Nation.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the Arcadia Olympic Commission and all of
its members be commended for their outstanding contribution to the
Games of the XXIII Olympiad and for their substantial assistance
to the City of Arcadia and the community in general with regard to
the 1984 Olympic Games.
SECTION 2. That in view of the conclusion of the Games of
the XXIII Olympiad and the duties of the Arcadia Olympic
Commission, that said Commission be dissolved.
SECTION 3. That said Commission is hereby reconstituted as
an Advisory Comn\ittee for a period of ninety (90) days from the
date of this Resolution (or sooner if final recommendations are
rendered prior to ninety (90) days) in order to make recommen-
dations to the City Council as to the allocation of funds
remaining in the Olympic Commission Account.
SECTION 4. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution.

I, CHRISTINE VAN MAANEN, City Clerk of the City of Arcadia,
hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution No. 5195 was passed
and adopted by the City Council of the City of Arcadia, signed by
the Mayor and attested to by the City Clerk at a regular meeting
of said Council held on the l8th day of September, 1984, and that
said Resolution was adopted by the following vote, to-wit:
