HomeMy WebLinkAbout5196 RESOLUTION NO. 5196 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DENYING MODIFICATION NO. 84-94 (FINDINGS) WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 4019, Marie M. Hart appealed the decision of the Architectural Review Board of the Santa Anita Village Community Association concerning the use of GAF Timberline Class A Fiberglass roofing material (Three- Dimensional) at 805 Coronado Drive in the City ,of Arcadia, to the City Planning Commission, and WHEREAS, after duly noticed public hearing at which all sides presented evidence, the Planning Commission voted 6 to 0 to deny said application and uphold the decision of the Architectural Review Board, and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission's decision was appealed to the City Council, which appeal was heard on September l8, 1984, and WHEREAS, 1:he City Council considered the evidence which includes the City staff reports, written communications provided by the parties, samples of the proposed roofing materials, photographs and testimony presented at the hearing, and WHEREAS, the City Council by a vote of 4 to 1 denied the appeal and upheld the decision of the Planning Commission and directed the preparation of a Resolution reflecting that decision and the findings of the City Council. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The appeal of Modification No. 84-94 regarding 805 Coronado Drive in the City of Arcadia is hereby denied and the decision of the Planning Commission sustained: SECTION 2. FINDINGS: a. M-84-94 would not secure an appropriate improvement, prevent an unreasonable hardship or promote uniformity of development. b. The proposed roofing material is not compatible with other structures in the neighborhood and the external building appearance which would result if the appeal were approved is not compatible with existing structures in the neighborhood as further specified in finding C. c. The proposed roofing materials proposed by the applicant would contribute to disharmony with regard to buildings and structures in the neighborhood because the proposed roof is not compatible with roofs of wood shake or shingle which predominate in the neighborhood and were required when the neighborhood was established. -2- SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
