RESOLUTION NO. 5907
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE GENERAL PLAN
LAND USE MAP FOR THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT THE
NORTHWEST CORNER OF SECOND AVENUE AND
HUNTINGTON DRIVE FROM "INDUSTRIAL" TO
"COMMERCIAL".
WHEREAS, this General Plan change was initiated by the City to consider
changing the Land Use designation on the Arcadia General Plan Land Use Map from
"Industrial" to "Commercial" for the properties located at the northwest corner of Second
Avenue and Huntington Drive (see attached map - Exhibit A).
WHEREAS, on January 23, 1996, a public hearing was held before the Planning
Commission on said matter at which time all interested persons were given full
opportunity to be heard and to present evidence; and
WHEREAS, after the public hearing the Planning Commission voted 6 to 0 with
one member absent to recommend to the City Council approval of General Plan Change
96-001; and
WHEREAS on February 20, 1996 a public hearing was held before the City
Council at which time all interested persons were given full opportunity to be heard and
to present evidence; and
WHEREAS, after the public hearing the City Council voted 3-0 with one member
absent and one member abstaining to approve General Plan Change 96-001; and
WHEREAS, as part of the record of this hearing, the City Council reviewed and
considered:
a. All staff reports and related attachments and exhibits submitted by the
Development Services Department staff to the Planning Commission and City Council;
and
b. The record of the Planning Commission hearing regarding G.P. 96-001.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

Section I. This Council finds:
I. That because of the size, the location adjacent to Huntington Drive with
visibility from the freeway and the surrounding uses; the proposed "Commercial"
designation is appropriate for this site.
2. That the approval of General Plan Change 96-001 will not be detrimental to
the public health or welfare, or injurious to the property or improvements in such zone or
vicinity.
3. That the "Commercial" designation will allow more flexibility in the types of
uses permitted on the site.
2. That the granting of General Plan Change 96-001 will not have a significant
effect on the environment.
Section 2. That for the foregoing reasons this Council approves a Negative
Declaration and approves General Plan Change 96-001, amending the General Plan Land
Use Map from "Commercial" to "Industrial" for the properties set forth in attached
Exhibit A.
Section 3 The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
