RESOLUTION NO. 5115
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARCADIA ESTABLISHING COMPENSATION FOR
VARIOUS POSITIONS WITHIN THE PUBLIC WORKS
DEPARTMENT FOR THE FISCAL YEARS 1983-84 AND
1984-85
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Effective August 7, 1983, the Salary
Schedule shall be improved by 2% for the following
classifications:
Equipment Operator
Store Keeper
Sweeper Operator
Traffic Painter
General Repairman
Maintenance Worker
Public Works Foreman
Tree Trimmer
Pump Mechanic
Water Foreman
Water Service Representative
Water System Inspector
SECTION 2. For the classifications listed in Section I,
the City shall continue to provide as Deferred Compensation a set
dollar amount to be paid toward the employee's contribution to the
Public Employees' Retirement System. Effective August 7, 1983, the
set dollar amount to be paid as Deferred Compensation shall be an
amount equal to 6% of the August 7, 1983 Salary Schedule rate for
each employee.
SECTION 3. Effective June 24, 1984, for the
classifications listed in Section 1 above, the Salary Schedule rate
shall be improved by 5%. The City shall adjust the dollar amount
paid as Deferred Compensation to an amount equal to 6% of the June
24, 1984 Salary Schedule rate for each employee. Such dollar
amount shall be fixed and shall not automatically increase due to

future salary adjustments.
SECTION 4. Effective August 1, 1983, for the
classifications listed in Section 1 above, the City shall pay up to
$199 per month, toward the health insurance premium cost of the
City's health insurance plan, to each employee enrolled in the
health insurance plan.
If the City's contribution exceeds the cost of employee
only coverage, the difference shall be contributed toward the cost
of dependent coverage or to the employee's account in the City's
deferred compensation plan, at the employee's option, or both.
If the premium cost of the health plan exceeds the City's
contribution, the employee shall pay through payroll deduction the
difference between the monthly premium and the amount contributed
by the City.
The employee's exercise of the option to use the
difference toward dependent health coverage or the deferred
compensation plan is subject to the conditions controlling
enrollment periods and eligibility established by the respective
plans or carriers.
SECTION 5. Effective July I, 1984, for the
classifications listed in Section 1 above, the City shall pay up to
$239 per month, toward the health insurance premium cost of the
City's health insurance plan, to each employee enrolled in the
health insurance plan.
If the City's contribution exceeds the cost of employee
only coverage, the difference shall be contributed toward the cost
of dependent coverage or to the employee's account in the City's
deferred compensation plan, at the employee's option, or both.

SECTION 6. Effective August 1, 1983, for the
classifications listed in Section 1 above, the City shall pay up to
$17 per month toward the employee-only coverage portion of the
dental pl an.
SECTION 7. Effective July 1, 1984, for the
classifications listed in Section 1 above, the City shall pay up to
$22 per month toward the employee-only coverage portion of the
dental plan.
SECTION 8. Effective July 1, 1983, for the
classifications listed in Section I above, the City shall pay up to
$12.81 per month toward the employee coverage of the disability
income insurance plan.
SECTION 9. Effective July 1, 1983, for the
classifications listed in Section 1 above, the City shall provide
each employee with term life insurance in the amount of $5,000.00
SECTION 10. Effective July 1, 1983:
The employee assigned in writing to perform a variety of
painting functions including the painting of all City vehicles, the
re-finishing and finishing of furniture and cabinets, and the
interior and exterior painting of City facilities shall receive
$23.08 per pay period in addition to the base salary.
The employee assigned in writing to perform a variety of
welding functions in the Water Department shall receive $23.08 per
pay period in addition to the base salary.
SECTION 11. The existing stability pay benefit
authorized by Resolution No. 4186 shall no longer apply to any new
employee hired after June 3D, 1982 into classifications listed in
this Resolution,
SECTION 12. The salary and benefits set forth herein are
predicated on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by the City and
American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees AFL-
CIO Local 2264. At the time of this Resolution, the MOU is not in
final written form. The terms of this Resolution shall be of no
force and effect if the MOU referred to herein is not signed by
September 1, 1983.

SECTION 13. That the Clerk of the Council shall
certify to the adoption of this resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was
adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Arcadia hel d on the 16th day of August, 19B3, by the affirmative
vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit:
