RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 545.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
DECLAnING ITS INTENTION TO IMPROVE PORTIONS OF FIRST AVENUE AND '
CALIFORNIA STREET IN SAID CITY OF ARCADIA AND DECL&qING SAID WORK :
OR IMPROVEMENT TO BE OF MORE THAN LOCAL OR ORDINARY PUBLIC BENEFIT
AND DESCRIBING THE DISTRICT TO BE BENEFITED BY SAID WORK OR IM- I
PROVEMENT AND TO BE ASSESSED TO PAY THE COSTS AND EXPENSES THERE-
OF AND DET~RMINING THAT SERIAL BONDS SHALL BE ISSUED TO REPRESENT.
SAID COSTS AND EXPENSES AND FIXING A TIME AND PLACE FOR HEARING
OBJECTIONS TO SAID WORK OR IMPROVEMENT OR TO THE EXTENT OF THE
DISTRICT TO ffi ASSESSED OR BOTH.

SECTION 1: That the public interest and convenience re- i
quire and it is the intention of the City Council of said City of I
Arcadia to order the following work and improvement to be done in

said City of Arcadia, to~wit:
FIRST AVENUE.
FIRST: That a cement sidewalk five (5) feet in width
be constructed along the Easterly side of First Avenue from the
Southerly curb line or California Street to the Northerly curb J
Streetl
line of Duarte Road, including intersecting returns at California ~
and First Avenue; Alice street and First Avenue and Duarte rtoad

be constructed along the Westerly side of First Avenue from the
Southerly curb line of Diamond Street to the Northerly curb line
of Duarte Road, including intersecting returns at Diamond Street
and First Avenue; Eldorado Street and First Avenue; Fano street
and First Avenue; Alice Street and First Avenue; Lucile Street
and First Avenue and Duarte Road and First Avenue, except where a
five (5) foot sidewalk is already constructed in said portiJn of
First Avenue to the official line and grade of said First Avenue
and is in good condition.
THIRD: That reinforced concrete ornamental street lightt
ing standards, together with wires, pipes, conduits, globes, lambs

and appliances for lighting said portion of First Avenue, be in-

SECOND: That a cement sidewalk five (5) feet in
width be constructed along the Southerly side of said California
Street from the Easterly line of First Avenue to a point in the

Southerly line of said California Street distant one hundred thirty-
five (135) feet therefrom.
SEOTlv}) 2: That the grade to which the work herein-,
above described shall be done and the improv.ement made as providea
in this Resolution, is that shovm on Profile and Improvement Plan'

No. C-15l, on file in the offi ce of the Oi ty Engineer of said Oi ty',
to which Profile reference is here'oy rr.aa.e for the description of
such grade.
SZCTION 3: All the foregoing work shall be done in
accordance with said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-151, on
file in the office of the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia.
Said work shall also be in accordance with the fol-
lowing Specifications on file in the office of the City Clerk of
said. City of Arcadia, to-wit:

Said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-151 and the S)ec-'

543 of said City Council and the same are hereby made a ~art of
this Resolution and are heTe"DY referred to for a more;Jarticular
description of said work.
All Streets and Avenues referred to in this Resoluti~~
are ?ublic Streets and Avenues in said City of Arcadia.
SECTION 4: That said contemplated work and improvement
in the opinion of the Oi ty Council of said Ci ty of Arcadia is of
more than local or ordinary public benefit and said City Council
hel'eoy makes the expense of said work and im9rovement chargeable
upon a District, which District said City Council hereby declares
to be the District benefited by seid work and improvement and to
be assessed to pay the costs and expenses thereof, which said
District is bounded and described as follows:
All that portion of said City of Arcadia included within,

the following described exterior bo~~dary lines, to-wit:
Beginning at the Northwest corner of Lot 36, Block 64~,
of Part of Arcadia Tract, in ohe City of Arcadia, County of Los
An6eles, State of California, as per Map recorded in Book 15, Pages
89-90, Miscellaneous Records of said County; thence Easterly
along the Southerly hne 0 f Ca1 Hornia Street to the Northeast
corner of Lot 28, in said Block 6~; thence Southerly in a direct
line and parallel to the center line of First Avenue to the North-
er1y line of Duarte Road, which point is the Southeast corner of
Lot 12, Block 62 of Part of Arcadia Tract, in the City of Arcadia,
County of Los Angeles, State of California, as per Map recorded
in Book 16, Page 5S, Miscellaneous Records of said County; thence

The above description is general only. A Plat or Map
of said District indicating by a boundary line the extent of the '
territory included in the proposed Assessment District is on file i
in the office of said City Engineer. Reference is hereby made to !

shall govern for all details as to the extent of such Assessment

SECTION 5: Said City Council also determines and declares
that S~rial Bonds shall be issued to represent each assessment of :

Twenty-five ($25.00) Dollars or more remaining unpaid for thirty
(30) days after the date of the Warrant to represent the expenses:
of said work and improvement. Said Serial Bonds shall extend over
a period ending nine (9) years from the second day of January next
succeeding the fifteenth day of the next November following their
date and an even annual proportion of the principal sum thereof
shall be payaole by coupon on the second day of January every year

SECTION 6: Noti ce is hereby gi ven that on ',1ednesday
the nineteenth day of March, 1930, at the hour of eight 0 I clock
P. M. of said day, in the Council Chamber of the City Council of
said City of Arcadia, in the City Hall of said City, any and all

~ersons having any objections to said proposed work or improve-

ment or to the extent' of the District to be assessed, or both,
may appear before said City Council and show cause why said pro-

posed work or improvement should not be carried out in accordance
with this Resolution.
SECTION 7: All of the proceedings for the aforesaid
work and improvement and for the issuance of said bonds shall be
had and taken under and in accordance with the provisions of an
Act of the Legislature of the State of California, known and des-
ignated as the "Improvement Act of 1911", a.pproved April 7, 1911,
and of all Acts su~plementary thereto or amendatory thereof.
SECTION 8: The Superintendent of Streets shall post
or cause to be posted, conspicuously along the line of said con-
templated work or improvement and also along all the open Streets
within the District liable to be assessed and hereinabove de-
scribed, notices of the ~assage of this Resolution in the manner
and form required by law.
SECTION 9:

The City Clerk shall certify to the passage.
of this Resolution and sh2~1 cause the same to be ~ublished twice
in The Arcadia News, a weekly newspaper published and circulated
in said City of Arcadia, and hereby desi6nated for that purpose.
Said City Council does not deem it advisable that the Oity Clerk
mail copies of "Notice of Improvement" to the owners or re:;:mted
owners of property within the said Assessment District and the
mailing of such notices is hereby dispensed with.
The foregoing Resolution was adopted at a regular meet-
ing of the Oity Council of the City of Arcadia, held on the 19th.
