RESOLUTION NO. 568
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS :
The City Council of Arcadia over one year ago
obtained deeds signed by all interested parties conveying to the
City of Arcadia the rights-of-way for the extension of Colorado
Street. Orange Avenue and Huntington Drive through the Baldwin
Ranch from the West City Limits to Santa Anita Avenue. which
deeds were duly accepted by the City of Arcadia, duly recorded
with the County Recorder and a copy furnished to County Highway
Commissioner George Jones, smd
WHEREAS :
An estimate of the cost of improving all of
these roads was prepared by our City Engineer G. B. Watson;
this estimate was submitted to Mr. George Jones who approved
same am recommended to the Board of Supervisors that an
allocation of $107.000 be made towards the improvement of these
roads, and
WHEREAS :
On November 25, 1929, a Committee representing
this City Council and interested citizens from Arcadia and
Pasadena accompanied by Mr. George Jones appeared before said
Board of Supervisors and officially requested that the appropria-
tion of $107,000 be made so that the necessary legal prelimina-
ries could be started for opening and improving these roads.
The Chairman of the Board of Supervisors stated that the
appropriation asked for could not legally be made until the
funds had been received from the State but by a gentlemen's
~eement your Board unanimously agreed, to allot said sum of
money out of the next allotment of State Funds, am
VlHEREAS:
Since that time the City of Arcadia has prepared
plans and specifications for the improvement of these roads, a
copy of which "was'.': forwarded.; to Mr. George Jones. The City
has held the necessary public hearing at which no protests were
received, and all legal proceedings required have been complied
with and completed for improving these roads under the 1911

Improvement /Act-Elxcept the awarding of contract for such work
and improvement. Bids were advertised for and were opened at

the regular meeting of the Oity Oounoil of the City of Aroadia.
held July 16. 1930. and the bids reoeived are within the
estimated oost of the work.
Said Oity of Aroadia is now ready to award the oontraot
for the opening and improvement of Huntington Drive. Colorado
Street and Orange Avenue as soon as we reoeive the promised

allooation of $107.000 or a definite and positive oommitment
trom said Board of Supervisors as to the date said City of
Aroadia will reoeive said sum of $107.000.
NOVi THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
That the Board of Super-
visors be offioially advised that said City of Aroadia is ready
to start immediate work on these roads and said City is there-
fore requesting the said promised oontribution of County Funds
in the amount of $107.000. same to be apportioned as follows:
Huntington Drive. West Oity Limits to S. P. Ry. .....$43.834.00
Huntington Drive. S. P. ~raoks to Santa Anita Ave.. 7.008.00
Colorado Street. West City Limits to interseotion
of Huntington Drive ................ 43.330.00
Orange Avenue. trom Colorado St.. to Santa Fe Traoks. 11~290.00
Orange Avenue. trom Santa Fe Traoks to Santa Anita Ave 1.538.00
Total ......$107.000.00
The balanoe of the oost of these roads to be finanoed by a
oash oontribution trom the City of Aroadia. the P. E. Railway
Company. the Santa Fe Railroad Company and an assessment of
$58.000 on the lands within the Baldwin Ranoh.
The foregoing Resolution was adopted at a regular meeting
of the City Counoil of the City of Aroadia held on the 16th day
of July. 1930. by the affirmative vote of at least three Counoil-
men, to-wit:

Counoilmen, Bolz. Bottema. Link, Seaman and Vialshe.
NOES:
C ouno ilmen, none.
and signed and approved this 16th day of July, 1930.
