HomeMy WebLinkAbout0909 RESOLUTION NO. 909 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION IN SAID CITY OF ARCADIA ON THE 12th DAY OF APRIL, 1938; PROVIDING FOR THE POLLING PLACES FOR THE HOLDING OF SUCH ELECTION, APPOINTING THE ELECTION OFFICERS FOR THE SAME AND FIXING THEIR COMPENSATION. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AR<<:'ADIA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: That a general municipal election be and the same is hereby called to be held in said City of Aroadia on Tuesday, April 12, 1938, fOl~ the following purposes: For the lmrpose of electing the following officers to-wit: 1. Three memllers of the City Council of said City of Arcadia to hold office for the 1'ull term or period of four years from and after the 18th day of April, 1938. 2. One member of the City Council of the City of Arcadia to hold office for the unexpired term or period of two years from and after the 18th day of April, 1938. SECTION 2: That the polls for said eleotion shall be opened at 6:00 o'clock A. M. of the day of said election and shall remain open continuously from said time until 7:00 o'clock P. M. of the same day, when said polls shall be closed, except as provided in Section 1164 of the Political Code of the State of California. SECTION 3: That the election preoincts last established and designated within said City of Arcadia by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles, State of California, for the holding of general elections and which said election preoincts so established were and are designated liS Arcadia City Preoincts Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 respectively, shall for the purpose of said genere.1 munioipal election be consolidated, designated and shall embrace all that part of sald City of Arcadia, as follows, to-wit: A - Arcadia CUy Precincts No. 1 and Arcadia City Precinct No. 14 shall be consolidated and designated as Arcadia City Consolidated Precinct No.1, whic:h said Arcadia City Consolidated Precinct No. 1 shall -1- oonsist of and be Clo-extensive with said Arcadia City Precincts Nos. 1 and 14. B - Arcadia City Precinot No.2. Arcadia City Precinct No. 3 and Arcadia City Precinct No. 4 shall be consolidated and designated as Arcadia City Consol.idated Preoinot No.2, which said Arcadia City Consolidated Precinct No. 2 shall consist of and be co-extensive with said Arcadia City Precincts Nos. 2, 3 and 4. C - Arcadia City Preoinct No.5, Aroadia City Precinct No.6, Arcadia City Precinct No.7 and Arcadia. City Precinct No.8 shall be consolidated and designated as Arcadia City Consolidated Precinct No. 3. which said Arcadia City Consolidated Precinct No. 3 shall consist of and be co-extensive with said Arcadia City Preoincts Nos. 5, 6, 7 and 8. D - Arcadia City Precinct No. 9 and Arcadia City Precinct No. 10 shall be consolidated and designated as Arcadia City Consolidated Precinct No.4, whJ.ch said Arcadia City Consolidated Preoinct No. 4 shall consist of and be co-oxtensive with said Arcadia City Precincts Nos. 9 and 10. E - Arcadia CUy Precinct No. 11, Aroadia City Precinct No. 12 and Arcadia City Precinct No. 13 shall be consolidated and designated as Aroadia City Consolidated Precinot No.5, which said Arcadia City Consolidated Preoinct No. 5 shall oonsist of and be oo-extensive with said Arcadia City :E'reoincts Nos. 11, 12 and 13. SECTION ~.: That the respeotive polling places for the holding of said general municipal election and the respective officers of said election are hereb~' designated and named as follows, to-witt. ARCADIA CITY CONSOLIDATED PRECINCT NO.1. POLLING PLACE, Buhler's Residence, situate at No.2 East Foothill Blvd., in said City of Arcadia. OFFICERS OF ELECTION J. Ernest Tyndal Charles M. ARCADIA CITY CONSOLIDATED PRECINCT NO. 5 POLLING PLACE, Real Estate Office of Sohwarzkopf Realty Company, situate at No. 804 South Baldwin Avenue, in said City of Arcadia. OFFICERS OF ELECTION Inspector: Miss Graci.e D. McCurdy JUDGE: Mrs. Dorothy O. Shaw CLERKS: Mrs. Lucille E. Williams and Mrs. Lillian Jewell SECTION 5: That said general municipal election shall be held in accordance with the provisions of an act of the Legislature of the State of California, entitled, "An Act to provide for and regulate municipal elections in cities of the fifth and sixth classft, approved May 27, 1919, approved June 19, 19;1 and in accordance with all -3- amendments thereto ,and in all other respects not otherwise provided for there~ shall be held and conducted in accordance with the general election laws of the State of California insofar as the same may be applicable. SECTION 6: That the compensation to be paid to each of said officers of election for all services by each of said officers to be rendered at said general municipal election, shall be and the same is hereby fixed at the sum of $7.00. SECTION 7: That the said City Council will meet at its usual place of meeting on Monday, April 18, 1938 at the hour of 8:00 o'clock P. M., to canvass the returns of said election and declare the results thereof. SECTION 8: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of said City of Arcadia held on the 3rd day of March, 1938, by the affirmative vote of at least three councilmen, to wit: AYES: Councilmen Griffitts, Hudson and McLean NOES: None ABSENT: Counc iJ.man Hoff'man ~y~~ And signed and approved this 3rd day of March, 1938. c )1'?:1tr- .
