channel, cut new ditches, washed out a bridge on Colorado

streets have been torn up, pavement uashed out in different

sections of the City, dirt shoulders have been \~shed out
on many streets leaving ditches and gutters beside the streets,
thereby preventing the use of streets,making other streets
impassible and dangerous and a menace to the travelling public.

Rocks, boulil.ers, mud, sand and silt cover many streets. ',ie are

unable to get into many places at this time in order to

ascertain the damage to uater mains. r.:any persons are destitute
and homelesEI. ~he storm made it necessary to evacuate persons

II the South Bastern part of the City of Arcadia, washed auay many
12 small buildings, flooded many homes, broke the water mains at

mains at Valnett Avenue crossing the wash. and

\Ihereas. as a rssult of the storm, the washouts. many

homes in the South bastern part of the City are uithout water
and many homes have been flooded and there is great danger of

sickness, e:pidemic, disease and fire as a result of the present

HOlT, THEREJ;' ORE , the City Council of the City of Arcadia.
hereby determines, that the public intereat and necessity
demand the immediate expenditure of public money to safeguard
life, health and property in the City of Arcadia, and to that
end to provi.de the South Eastern portion of the City of Arcadia
26 and the people therein with water for domestic, fire and other
27 purposes:
28 mud, silt
to repair streets. bridges. remove rocks, boulders,
to
aLd / do anything else that may be necessary for
29 immediate relief, and to expend public money for any other
30 purpose uhich may be necessary or proper to relieve conditions
3l as a result of the storm.

~he City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at a regularly adjourned meeting of the City Council of the
CIty of Arcadia, held on the 4th. day of J.!a.rch, 1938, by the

affirmativo vote of at least four councilmen,to-vit:
AYES; Councilmen. Griffitts, Hoffman, Hudson and McLean
