HomeMy WebLinkAbout0921 RESOLUTION NO. 921 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES TO ENLARGE THE PRESENT FLUME FROM SANTA AN ITA A VENUE TO BIG SANTA ANITA WASH IN THE CITY OF ARCADIA. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: Whereas, during the recent noods of March, 1938, the flume in Santa Anita Wash was filled with debris and caused to overflow the embankment changing its course and caus ing considerable damage to private property and the public streets and highways in the city of Arcadia; and Whereas, if the concrete flume is left in its present condition it will fill up with debris as it did during the last storm of March, 1938, on account of its capacity not being of sufficient size to carry the storm waters draining into Little Santa Anita Wash; Now the:refore,' It is Hereby Resolved by the City Council of the City of Arcadia, that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles be and they are hereby requested to enlarge the present concrete flume frl)Il1 Santa Anita Avenue to Big Santa Anita Wash in the City of Arcadia to the capacity that the Wash is now being constructed to, from Santa Anita Avenue to Grandview Avenue in said City of Arcadia. Be it ~lrther resolved: The W. :Po A. has approved the plans as set forth by the Flood Control District, for improving Little Santa Anita Wash from Grandview Avenue to Santa Anita Avenue, which calls for Rubble Masonry walls. That ths W. P. A. project is now being held up until such time as funds are available for the enlarging of the Concrete Flume from Santa Anita Avenue to Big Santa Anita Wash. The City Council of the City of Arcadia is financing a portion of the improvement of the portion from Grandview Avenue to Santa Anita Avenue, but the City Council of the City of Arcadia is unable to finance the enlargement of the flume from Santa Anita Avenue to Big Santa Anita -1- Wash. It is absolutely necessary that the work be completed before the rains begin. We urge the Board of Supervisors to immediately appropriate sufficient money 1;0 complete this work with the assistance of the W. P. A. SECTION 2: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and shall send a copy thereof to the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles.
