A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA REQUESTING FROM THE DEPART:':ENT OF PUBLIC rIORKS OF THE STATE OF CALIFCRNIA AN EXTEIlSION OF TIME IN WHICH TO COI.1PLETE CERTAIN nORK PROVIDED TO BE DONE IN A CERTAIN AGREEI,iEllT EXECUTED BY THE CITY OF ARCADIA ON NOVE,JBER 15, 1938 AND EXECUTED BY THE DEPART"IENT OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE STATE OF CALIFOR~IA ON NOVEMBER 18, 1938. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLO\iS: SECTION 1. ~1HEREAS, the Director of Finance of the State of California did on the 16th day of November, 1938, authorize in writing the expenditure of the sum of not to exceed Nine Thousand (~9,000.OO) Dollars from the emerGency fund provided for in item 189 of the 1937, Budget Act ( Statutes of 1937, p. 423) for the following purposesj (a) for the construction of a swale crossing on Valnett Avenue over Santa Anita Wash between Eighth and Tenth Avenues, and (b) for the repair and rehabilitation of bank protection works in and along Sierra Madre Wash between Grand View Avenue and Santa Anita Avenue, and VffiKREAS, that certain agreement made and entered into between the City of Arcadia and the Department of Public Worka of the state of California on or about the 18th day of November, 1938, and approved by said Director of Finance, provides in part that said work might be performed, wholly or in part, in conjunction with a Works Administ~ation Project, subject to the ap"roval of said Department of Public Works, and \VHEREAS, pursuant to said agreement the repair and rehabilitation of bank protection works in and along Sierra Madre Wash between Grand View Avenue and Santa Anita Avenue was included in a Works Administration Project whioh was heretofore approved by the Department of Public Works and by the Los Angeles Office of Works Progress Administration b~t that the Office of the Works Project Administration in Washington D.C. has as a oondition of it's approval, demanded that the City of Arcadia furnish money towards said job in an amount greater than the City was able to provide, and WHEREAS, arrangements have now been made between the City of Arcadia and the Los Angeles County Flood Control whereby the -1- entire Sierra Madre Wash Project will be sponsored by the Los Angeles County Flood Control; that by so doing any money in addition to the unexpended portion authorized from the emergency fund will be supplied to the Works Project Administration by the Los Angeles County Flood Control, and ViHEREAS, arrangements have been practically completed to begin work on the Project forthwith, and \'lIfEREAS, the time for completion of the work under the agreement between the City and the Department of Public Works expires on July 16, 1939, and \1.ffZREAS, this Council believes that all of said work will be completed within a period of six (6) months from July 15, 1939, NmJ, THER~ORE, it is hereby ordered that the Mayor and City Clerk be and they are hereby autborized for and on behalf of the City of Arcadia to make written application to the Department of Public Works for an extension of six (6) months from and after the 15th day of July, 1939, in which to complete said ~ork provided for in said Agreement. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that a copy Of this Resolution be forwarded with said application for extension. SECTIO~.
