HomeMy WebLinkAbout5074 RESOLUTION 5074 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY O~ ARCADIA INITIATING PROCEEDINGS FOR REORGANIZATION OF TERRITORY DESIGNATED AS "ANNEXATION NO. 47" TO THE CITY OF ARCADIA (DETACHMENT FROM CONSOLIDATED FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT), PURSUANT TO THE DISTRICT REORGANIZATION ACT OF 1965. WHEREAS, a petition making application for the proposed reorganization of territory, designated as "Annexation 47" to the City of Arcadia (Detachment from Consolidated Fire Protection District), was filed with the Local Agency Formation Commission pursuant to the District Reorganization Act of 1965 (Division 1 [commencing with Section 56000] of Title 6 of the Government Code) by Ramona L. Ruh, 6811 Golden West Avenue, #4, Arcadia, 91006, and' Donald J. Scott, 6811 Golden West Avenue, #26, Arcadia, 91006, as chief petitioners: and WHEREAS, the Local Agency Formation Commission on October 27, 1982 approved the reorganization subject to the condition that the territory also be withdrawn from the County Library System and from Longden Lighting District, designated the City Council of the City of Arcadia as the conducting authority, and directed the City to initiate reorganization proceedings, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows: 1. Preliminary proceedings for reorganization proceedings were commenced by petition making application of Ramona L. Ruh and Donald J. Scott as chief petitioners. 2. The affected agencies are the County of Los Angeles, the City of Arcadia, and the Consolidated Fire Protection District of Los Angeles County. 5074 -1- 3. The reasons for the proposed reorganization, as set forth in the petition are: (a) the area proposed to be annexed is contiguous to the City of Arcadia, all residents are being served by the Arcadia Post Office and have an Arcadia mailing address; (b) the services provided by the City of Arcadia would be beneficial to both the landwoners and residents within the area proposed to be annexed; and (c) there will be no increase in property taxes as Proposition 13 limits property tax to one percent of market value. 4. The Local Agency Formation Commission determined that the affected territory is inhabited and said Commission approved the reorganization on October 27, 1982, with the condition that said territory also be withdrawn from the County Library System and from Longden Lighting District, and designated the City Council of the City of Arcadia as the conducting authority. 5. A hearing on the proposed reorganization is set for December 7, 1982 (not less than 15 days nor more than 60 days from this date) at 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers located at Arcadia City Hall, 240 West Huntington Drive, Arcadia, California. 6. Any interested person desiring to make written protest against the reorganization should do so by written communication filed with the City Clerk of the City of Arcadia, 240 West Huntington Drive, Arcadia, California not later than the hour set for hearing. A written protest by a landowner shall contain a description sufficient to identify the land owned by him.
