RESOLUTION NO. 4221
A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of
California, honoring the Telephone Pioneers of America.
BE IT RESOLVEO by the Council of the City of
Arcadia

California as follows:
WHEREAS, BY RESOLUTION NUMBER 4221 the Council calls attention
to the largest voluntary association of industrial employees in America with
a membership of over 346,000.
WHEREAS, THIS ASSOCIATION is composed of men and women who
have worked 21 years or more in the telephone industry in the United States
and Canada. About 60 per cent of the membership is still active in the
business with the remaining 40'per cent being retired "life members".'
WHEREAS, THE PURPOSE of the organization is to provide means
of friendly associations among active and retired members; to foster the
ideals and traditions of the telephone industry and to be of service to the
community and to their fellow man.
WHEREAS, THE TELEPHONE PIONEERS, established in 1911 in
Boston, has grown to 80 Chapters throughout the United States and Canada
with representatives , from the Bell System and many independent companies.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT resolved by the Council of the City of
Arcadia
, California, does hereby commend the Telephone Pioneers of
America, an organization now engaged in over 700 community service projects
throughout the Country, for its volunteer work for the benefit of mankind.
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the Council does hereby extend sincere
congratulations on the organization's 60th Anniversary during the year of 1971,
and offers a wi sh for conti nued success in its community servi ce .endeavors.

at a regular meetj:ng of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held
on the 5th day of October, 1971, by the affirmative vote of Councilmen
Butter,worth, .Considine and Helms. Absent were Councilmen Arth and Hage.
