HomeMy WebLinkAbout4223 RESOLUTION NO. 4223 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA EXPRESSING ITS OPPOSITION TO COMMERCIAL. USE OF PROPERTY IN THE HIGHLANDS OF SANTA ANITA AVENUE NORTH OF FOOTHILL BOULEVARD. WHEREAS, the highlands adjacent to Santa Anita Avenue in the cities of Arcadia and Sierra Madre, and extending to the northern boundaries of each city, are zoned for residential use and provide a beautiful natural environment for the surrounding communities as well as the immediate residential neighborhood; and WHEREAS, from time to time, private interests to exploit the residential character and natural beauty have sought / of the area by proposing its use for commercial purposes; and WHEREAS, such proposals may again be made; and WHEREAS, one particular commercial use,'to wit, a restaurant and saloon, has been proposed for a particular area of the highlands in the City of Sierra Madre; and WHEREAS, that proposal was rejected by the Planning Commission of the City of Sierra Madre; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arcadia believes / that a formal expression of its opposition to any such commercial use should be made at this time so as to deter commercial promoters from seeking to so exploit the at-ea. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Arcadia that it is the sense of this Council that the highlands adjacent to Santa Anita Avenue in the ciities of Arcadia and Sierra Madre, and extending to the northern boundaries of each city, should never be made available for any commercial use. -1- 4223 I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held on the 2nd day of November , 1971, by the affirma- tive vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit: AYEs: Councilmen Arth, Butterworth, Considine, Hage and Helms NOES: None ABSENT: None ~~~~~ Ci Y Clerk of the' 1ty of Arcadia SIGNED AND APPROVED ATTEST: ~!~7Jf~ City erk (SEAL) -2- 4223
