A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY. COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
CAUVASSING lliE RESULTS OF GENERAL liUNICIP.AL ELWTION HELD APRIL
14, 1936.
TIm CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DO RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, at a General liunicipal ~ection held in the
City of Arcadia, County of Los Angele~, State of California, on
Tuesday, April l4, 1936, pursuant to law and the provisions of
Resolution No. 802, the whole number of voters voting thereat
was .1867
. and the whole number of legal votes cast was

WHEREAS, due notice of said ilunicipal Election was
given and said ~ection was held at the time and in the manner
and in all respe'3ts as required by said Resolution Ho. 802, and
that in all particulars not recited in said Resolution, said
~ection was held as provided by law for the holding of general
municipal electi'Jns in cities of the fifth and sixth class; and
WHEREAS, said i\:unicipal Elect ion was legally and fairly
conducted and the Returns thereof were duly and regularly made
and certified to
this Council and said returns have been fully
and regularly canvassed by this Council; and

NOW TlliJR.EFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the following named
persons having rl3ceived the highest number of votes for the office
fcr which they W'3re candidates, be and they are hereby declared duly
elected as follows:

WHEREAi3, a petition was filed with the City Council of the
City of Arcadia i3igned by qualified electors of the City of Arcadia,
County of Los Angeles, State of California, constituting not less

than one-tenth i:o number of the qualified electors of said City of
Arcadia, computed upon. the number of votes cast at the last general
municipal election held therein, petitioning that the following de-
scribed uninhabi'ted territory lying contiguous to said City of
Arcadia be annexed to, incorporated in and made a part of said City
of Arcadia; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arcadia did de-
termine that the property was uninhab,ited territory; that the peti-
tion was in prop3r form and contained sufficient signatures of
qualified electors of the City of Arcadia; and
\1HEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arcadia did
notify the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Ang eles, State
of California, of the faot that said petition had been filed with
said City Council, and requesting that said Board of Supervisors
proceed according to law to act upon said petition; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los
Angeles did cause notice to be published according to law in the
Los Angeles ~ly Journal, setting forth by general description
the land sought to be annexed to said llunicipality, and announcing
the time and place where objections to said annexation would be
heard; and
WHEREA.S, the Board of Supervisors did on the date set
for said hearing and protest, adopt a resolution, consenting that
the City of Arcadia annex said property; a copy of the Resolution
is attached hereto and marked .illxhibit "A"; and
WHEREAS, the City COilllCil Of the City of Arcadia did submit
to the electors of the City of Arcadia the question, whether or not
said new territory shall be annexed to, incorporated in and made a
part of said City of Arcadia; and
WHEREAS, notice of said election was published once a week
for a period of two weeks preceding such election, in the Arcadia
~ribune, a newspaper printed and published in said Uity of Arcadia;

WHEREAS, said not ic e did state the proposit ion to be
submitted to said electors as follows, to-wit:

NOTIC~ IS HEREBY GIV&{, that a general municipal election
will be held in the City of Arcadia on ~uesday, April 14th, 1936,
for the purpose of electing the following officers:
1 - Two members of the City Council of said City of
Arcadia to hold office for the full term or period of four (4)
years from and after the 20th day of April, 1936.
2 - City Clerk.
3 - City ~reasurer.
4 - The following proposition will be submitted at said
election:
\fuether or not the following described uninhabited terri-
tory lying contiguous to said City of Arcadia shall be annexed to
and incorporated in and made a part of said City of Arcadia:
~he territory to be annexed is situated in the County of
Los Angeles, state of California and is described as follows, to-wit:
Bounded on the South by .l!'oothill Boulevard, on the liest
by Sierra lladre Avenue, on the North by the Arcadia City boundary
and on the East by Baldwin Avenue, exoepting approximtely thirty-
two (32) acres in the Southeasterly portion thereof, being a por-
tion of Lot ~hree (3), 'J.'ract 948 as per map book 17, page 21 of ;.Iaps
of Los Angeles County and more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the Northerly line of Foothill
Boulevard, 80 feet in width, said point being distant 8-69 deg. 36'-
V, 1309.58 feet from the point of intersection of said Northerly
line of Foothill Boulevard with the \1esterly line of Baldwin Avenue,
60 feet in width; thence N-O deg. 24'-U, a distance of 510.00 feet;
thence N-39 deg. 36'46"-U, a distance of 122.37 feet to a point in
a curve concave to the Northwest and having a radius of 390.00 feet,
a radial line to said point having a bearing of S-39 deg. 38'46n-E;

therly 1044.19 feet from the point of intersection of said Uesterly
line of Baldwin Avenue vdth the Northerly line of Foothill Boulevard,
80 feet in width; thence Northerly along the said Uesterly line of
Baldwin Avenue 214.35 feet, more or less, to its point of intersec-
tion with the Southerly boundary line of the City of Arcadia, as now
established; thence \{esterly along the said Southerly boundary line
of the City of Arcadia, a distance of 4398.65 feet, more or less, to
its point of intersection with the easterly line of Sierra LiIadre Ave-
nue, 60 feet in width; thence Southerly along the said Easterly line
of Sierra Madre .Avenue, a distance of 1255.05 feet, more or less, to
its point of intersection with. the Northerly line of Foothill Boule-
vard, 80 feet in width; thence Easterly along the said Northerly line
of Foothill Boulevard, a distance of 3005.32 feet, more or less, to
the point of beginning.
IlHEREAS, the electors of said City of Arcadia were invited
to vote upon such proposition by placing upon their ballots a cross
after the words "for annexation" or "against annexation" or words

WHEREA.S. the legislative body of said City of Arcadia did
establish and in said notice of election designate the voting pre-
cincts and the places at which the pOlls would be opened in said
City of Arcadia: and
WHEREAS, said election has been held in accordance with

WHEREA.S, said General Municipal Election was legally and
fairly conducted. and the returns thereof were duly and regularly
made and certified to this Council and said returns have bsen fully
and regularly canvassed by this Council and the votes cast and the
results are as follows:

WHEREAS, it appears from said returns that a majority of
all of the votes cast in said City of Arcadia have been cast for and
in favor of such annexation.
NOW TEEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED, that the City Clerk of said
City of Arcadia enter upon the minutes of said City Council a copy
of this Hesolution and transmit UDier the seal of said City of Ar~
cadia, to the Secretary of State of California and to the BOard of
Supervisors of the co~ty of Los ~eles, a certified copy of such
Resolution so entered upon said minutes, together with the state-
ment showing the date of such election and the time and results of
such canvass.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution and thereupon and thereafter the same shall take effect
and be in forc e.

The foregoi~ Resolution was adopted at a meeting of the
City Council of said City of Aroadia held on the 20th day of April,
1936, for th$ purpose of oanvassing end declaring the results of
said Election, by the affirmative vote of at least three councilmen,
to-wit:

This being the time regularly set for
hearing on the propos ed annexation of
oertain uninhabited territory to the City of Arcadia. and due notice
of said hearing having been published as required by law, said matter
is oalled up: Woo. R. Elam. City Attorney of said City, is sworn and
examined, and no protests against the annexation of said territory
to said City ha,'ing been made or filed, - on motion of Silpervisor
Quinn, unanimously carried by the following vote, to-wit: Ayes,
Supervisors McDonough, Ford, Quinn, Jessup .and Legg; Noes, none,
it is ordered that the following resolution be, and the same i6
hereby adopted, to-wit:
IiHEREAS, notice has heretofore bsan given by the City Clerk of
the City of Arcadia, that a petition has been filed with the City
Council of said City, requesting that certain uninhabited territory
hereinafter described, lying contiguous to said City, be annexed to,
incorporated in and made a part of said City; and,
WHEREAS, due notice has been published, as required by law,
of the time and place when a hearing would be held before the Board
of Supervisors of the County of Loa Angeles upon said petition,

NOtl, THmlEFORE. BE IT RESOLVilll, that consent is hereby given by
~his Board of Supervisors to the annexation to the City of Arcadia
of the hereinafter desoribed uninhabited territory, to be henceforth
a part of said municipal corporation, to-wit:
Bounded on the south by :l!'octh1l1 houlevard. on the west by
Sierra lIadre avenue, on the north by the Arcadia boundary, and
on the east by Baldwin Avenue, excepting approximately 32 acres
in the southeasterly portion thereof; being a portion of Lot 3,
Tract 948 as per map Book 17, Page 21 of waps of Los Angeles
County.
The foregoing resolution was adopted by the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Los Angeles, State of California, on ~onday,
March 16th, 1936, and is ent ered in the lIinutes of said Board.
