A RESOHTTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
MEMORIALIZING THE PROCURElmNT DIVISION OF THE TRE^S~RY DEPARTtlliNT OF
TW "'EDERP.L I}OVEHEMENT TO ERECT A NEW POSTOFFICE !11TILDING nT THE
CITY OF ARrADIA.

SECTIOH 1:
To the Procurement Division of the Treasury
Department of the Federal Government:
The citizens of Arcadia, through their C5.ty Council
re[5ularly convened, hereby petition that YOll erect and construct in
the City of Arcadia a nev postoffice buildins at a site to be con-
veniently located for the convenience of the inhabitants of the
City of Arcadia.
SECTION 2:
That the present site of the postoffice in
the City of Arcacia is held under lease and has been so held since
1924; that owin::; to the rapid increase in population in the City of
Arcadia, the quarters now occupied by the postoffice is entirely
inaderJ.uate to serve the people of the City of Arcania; the buildin:;
was leased by the Government when the population of the f:i ty \'r8.S
llnner four thousand; the population of the City of Arcadia is now
well over ei::;ht thousand.
Buildin::; permits for the Ci.t:, of Arc~05 H for the year
end5n::; December 31, 1935, were 0559,835.00, and bn';lnin~ lJFJrmits
for the year endin::; December 31, 1936, ''''erFJ !\1,028,950.00.
After visitins towns within a radius of twenty-five miles
of the C5ty of Arcadia and viewin~ the cities which have been
recently ::;iven ne~ postoffice buildinss, it is thou::;ht that the

new postoffice buildin::;.
At the yresent time, several sites with sufficient area
for a pos toffice buildil1::; are nO\7 available.

SECTION 3:
The City Clerk shall certify to the adop-
tion of this Resolution.
I hereby certify that the foree;oins Resolntion was
adopted at a re(;1.:.1ar meetin:,; of the Ci ty Council of the City of
Arcadia held on the 4th day of 1.lay, 1937, by the affirma ti ve vote
of at least three Councilmen, to-wit:

and McLean
