HomeMy WebLinkAbout4133 RESOLUTION NO. ~ Lj/ i13 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO THE USE OF OVERHEAD RAILWAY SIGNAL LINES ON THE FOOTHILL FREEWAY BETWEEN SANTA ANITA AVENUE AND ROSEMEAD BOULEVARD AND REQUESTING THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS TO TAKE ACTION TO UNDERGROUND SUCH FACILITIES. WHEREAS, the Foothill Freeway between Santa Anita Avenue and Rosemead Boulevard is presently under construction; and WHEREAS, such work involves the relocation of the Santa Fe Railroad tracks; and WHEREAS, it is feasible and desirable to locate railway signal lines underground; and WHEREAS, the City of Arcadia has an active program to underground overhead utility lines in order to beautify the City; and WHEREAS, said freeway passes through a fine residential district. NOW, ~rHEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby expresses its opposition to the construction of overhead railway signal lines in the Foothill Freeway between Santa Anita Avenue and Rosemead Boulevard, and requests that the Division of Highways take appropriate action to cause said signal lines to be placed underground. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution. -1- ~ Y/.;J3 ,.
