HomeMy WebLinkAbout4142 /:/ RESOLUTION NO. ~ <II t/ '2-- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO CREATE AN UNDERGROUND PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT FOR THE UNDERGROUNDING OF POWER LINES ON MICHILLINDA AVENUE BETWEEN COLORADQ BOULEVARD AND CALIFORNIA STREET. WHEREAS, Michillinda Avenue, a County roadway between Colorado Boulevard and California Street borders one of the finest residential areas within the City of Arcadia; and WHEREAS, Miehillinda will become a major north-south traffic route when the Foothill Freeway is opened to Rosemead in 1971; and WHEREAS, the County plans to widen Michillinda Avenue, which plans eall for relocation of the overhead electric transmission lines located on the easterly side of the street; and WHEREAS, the street widening projeet will provide a onee- in-a-lifetime opportunity to underground the power lines at a minimized cost; and WHEREAS, such undergrounding will promote'the publie welfare and safety and avoid the perpetuation of the blighting influence of unsightly power poles and lines. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE .. CITY OF ARCADIA that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles, in conneetion with the widening of Michillinda Avenue, is requested to create an underground utility district for the purpose of using money available in undergrounding funds of the Southern California Edison Company to underground the electrical transmission lines ,in the easterly side of Michillinda Avenue, between Colorado Boulevard and California Street. -1- ~ 9'/~ RESOLVED FURTHER that the City Clerk shall mail a copy hereof to the Board of Supervisors, to Honorable Frank G. Bonelli, and the Honorable Warren M. Dorn and to J. L. Mohar, County Road Commissioner. The City Clerk 'shall eertify to the adoption of this resolution. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted at a regular meeting 'of the City Council of the City of Areadia held on the 7th day of July , 1970, by the affirmative vote of at'least three Councilmen, to wit: AYES: Councilmen Arth, Considine, Hage, Helms, and Butterworth NOES: None ABSENT: None SIGNED AND APPROVED thi? 1970.
