HomeMy WebLinkAbout4149 RESOLUTION NO. ~ -, I ~ RESOLUTION EXPRESSING REQUEST AND ASSURANCES FOR FLOOD AND LANDSLIDE INSURANCE UNDER NATIONAL FLOOD INSURANCE PROORAM RECEIVED JUL 13 1970 Dep/. of Public Worb CllV ...- f"'~~n,IA WHEREAS, a large portion of the City of Arcadia is subject to recurrent flooding and landslides causing loss of life and property, and WHEREAS, there is a recognized public need for flood and land~lide insurance, and WHEREAS, the 'National Flood Insurance Act, P.L. 90-448 and the Mudslide Amendment to it, P.L. 91-152 can provide such insurance to serve this public need, and WHEREAS, Sections 1910.2 and 1910.3 of the National Flood Insurance Program regulations require expression of interest and assurances. NOW, THERlITORE, BE THE FOlllJWll<G RESOLVED: the City of ARCADIA (1) Is most desirous and in need of participating in and receiving the benefits of National Flood Insurance Program. (2) Will recognize and duly evaluate flood hazards in all official actions relating to land use in the flood plain areas having special hazards. (3) Will enact by December 31, 1971, and maintain in force for areas having special flood hazards, adequate land use and control measures with effective enforcement provisions consistent with the criteria set forth in Subpart B of Section 1910 of the National Flood Insurance Program regulations. ':D p<f!,t:/,' IV,,~ . , I (4) If necessary, will seek State enabling legislation conferring authority to enact land use and control measures designed to reduce the exposure of property to flood loss. (5) Will assist the National Flood Insurance Program Administrator, at his request, in delineating the limits of the flood plain having special flood hazard on available 10cal maps of sufficient scale to identify the location of building sites. (6) Hereby adopts the map entitled "County of Los Angeles Showing Areas Recommended as Eligible for Federal Flood Insurance Program" as it affects the City of Arcadia (7) After flood insurance is made available, will furnish representatives of appropriate Federal or State agencies or of the National Flood Insurers Association information, as requested, concerning new or substantially improved structures within the area of special flood hazard. (8) Will cooperate with Federal, State and local agencies which undertake to study, survey, map and identify flood-prone areas as well as cooperation with neighboring jurisdictions with respect to adjoining flood plains in order to prevent aggravation of the flooding problem.
