RESOLUTION. NO. 4412
A'RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA
ORDERING AND CALLING FOR A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD
IN SAID CITY ON THE 9TH DAY OF APRIL 1974, DESIGNATING THE OFFICES
TO BE FILLED AND FOR THE SUBMISSION. TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF
SAID CITY TWO AMENDMENTS TO THE CITY CHARTER RELATING TO THE NUMBER
OF TERMS A COUNCILMAN MAY SERVE AND PROVIDING FOR A RUNOFF ELECTION
IF A CANDIDATE DID NOT RECEIVE 40% OF THE BALLOTS'CAST, AND
PROVIDING: FOR THE POLLING PLACES FOR SAID ELECTION,AND APPOINTING
THE ELECTION.OFFICERS FOR SUCH ELECTION.AND FIXING THEIR COMPENSATION.
THE CITY CO~CIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA" CALIFORNIA,. DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That pursuant to Section llOO of the Arcadia City Charter,
a general municipal election be and the same is hereby called to be held in
said City on the 9th day of April 1974 for the purpose of electing the
following officers, to wit: Three (3) members of the City Council to hold
office for the full term or period of four (4) years from and after the l6th
day of April 1974;
SECTION 2. That said City Council, pursuant to its right and authority
so to do, does'hereby determine that there shall be and there is hereby ordered
submitted to the qualified electors of said City at said regular municipal
election, the following propositions:
PROPOSITION A. Shall an amendment to Section 401 of the Charter
of the City of Arcadia, which amendment provides that a Councilman
must be a registered voter and must have resided in the City for .Yes
one (I) year before his nomination or appointment and that a
Councilman who, has been elected for three (3) consecutive terms No
shall not be eligible again for two (2) years after his last term
of office, be adopred:
PROPOSITION B. Shall an amendment to the Charter of the City of Yes
Arcadia, changing the number of votes required to be elected to
the office of Councilman, the time of the general municipal No
election and providing for a runoff election, be adopted?
SECTION 3. That for the purpose of holding said election there shall
be and there are hereby established precincts designated as hereinafter stated.
That the polling places for the respective precincts shall be places herein.
after designated, and that the persons hereinafter named, being competent and
qualified electors and residents of said City, .and of their respective
election precincts, are hereby appointed officers of election for their
respective election precincts, and they shall hold said election amd make
return thereof in the manner provided by law;
SECTION 4. That the polls for said election shall be opened at 7 a.m.
on the day of said election and shall remain open continuously from said time
until 7 p.m. of said day when said polls shall be closed except as provided in
Section 14436 of the Elections Code of the State of California.
SECTION.s. . That the compensation of the persons hereinafter named as
election officers is hereby fixed at the sum of Twenty-Four Dollars ($24.00)
. for each Inspector, and Twenty-One Dollars ($21.00) for each Judge and Clerk.

The rental of each of such polling places, where a charge is made, shall be
the sum of Twenty-One Dollars ($21,00). When required, the compensation of
the Custodian of a building shall be Fifteen Dollars ~$15.00) for said
elect ion.
SECTION.6. That the general municipal election shall be held in
accordance with the provisions of the City Charter of the City of Arcadia
and in accordance with the provisions of the Elections Code of the State
of California pertaining to General Law Cities insofar as the same are not
in conflict with said City Charter.
SECTION 7. That said City Council shall meet in the Council Chamber
of the Arcadia City Hall on TUESDAY APRIL 16, 1974 at the hour of 7:30 p.m.
to declare the results thereof.
SECTION,S. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution and shall cauSe notice of said election, the offices to be filled
and the other matters relating to said election to be given as required by
the Elections Code of the State of California.
I. HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted at a regular
meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held on the 5th day of
March 1974 by the affirmative vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit:
