HomeMy WebLinkAbout6264 RESOLUTION NO. 6264 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DESIGNATING THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 1 0_171h AS CALIFORNIA RECYCLES WEEK AND NOVEMBER 15 AS AMERICA RECYCLES DAY WHEREAS, to focus California's attention on the importance of recycling and "Closing The Loop" the California Resource Recovery Association, in partnership with the California Department of Conservation, the California Integrated Waste Management Board, the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Waste Management, Inc., and other pubic and private agencies, and businesses throughout the State of California, is sponsoring California Recycles Week; and WHEREAS, the theme of California Recycles Week is to "Renew Your Commitment to Recycling," and by participating, will help raise awareness about the need to reduce waste by reusing, recycling, and buying recycled products; and WHEREAS, Arcadia residents continue to recognize the importance of reducing the volume of solid waste by reusing products and materials before final disposal and recycling as many materials as possible; and WHEREAS, environmental and natural resource concerns are a high priority for the citizens of the State of California; and 6264 WHEREAS, children continue to learn about recycling through public education programs and curriculums throughout the state; and WHEREAS, Arcadia businesses, industries, government agencies, schools, as well as civic and environmental organizations are including recycling as a viable solid waste management option; and NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Designate the week of November 10-1 7th as "CALIFORNIA RECYCLES WEEK" and November 15 as "AMERICA RECYCLES DAY." SECTION 2. Acknowledge and commend the active involvement of those Arcadians who begin or increase their recycling efforts, and encourage and challenge others to adopt waste reduction efforts as we preserve and conserve California's natural resources.
