RESOLUTION NO. 6268
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, TO PROVIDE EMPLOYEES
OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA WHO ARE ACTIVATED AS
MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL GUARD, NAVAL MILITIA
OR ANY OTHER RESERVE COMPONENT OF THE
ARMED SERVICES OF THE UNITED STATES AS A RESULT
OF THE DEPLOYMENT OF MILITARY PERSONNEL
IN RESPONSE TO THE TERRORIST ACTS AGAINST THE
UNITED STATES ON SEPTEMBER 11,2001, WITH THE
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEIR REGULAR CITY SALARIES
AND THEIR MILITARY SALARIES, IF LESS, AND TO ENSURE
THE CONTINUATION OF CERTAIN BENEFITS FOR THEIR
MILITARY ASSIGNMENT
WHEREAS, the City of Arcadia and its employees join the entire nation in
supporting the deployment of military personnel of the National Guard, Naval Militia
and any other reserve component of the Armed Services of the United States in
response to the terrorist acts against the United States on September 11, 2001; and
WHEREAS, other City of Arcadia employees may be called to active duty
regarding the deployment of military personnel in response to the terrorist acts against
the United States on September 11, 2001.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CALIFORINA, DOES HEREBY. FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any provision of the Arcadia Municipal Code to
the contrary, departments of the City of Arcadia are hereby authorized and directed to

provide to a City employee who is a member of the National Guard, the Naval Militia
or a reserve component of any branch of the AImed Services of the United States and
who is activated as a result of the deployment of military personnel in response to the
terrorist acts against the United States on September 11, 2001, payment of the
difference between the employee's City salary and the employee's military salary, if
less, and continuation of the employee's current City medical, dental, vision, life
insurance, and retirement program benefits and leave accruals.
SECTION 2. The salary and benefits provided in Section 1, above, shall be
provided to any eligible employee regardless of when his/her active service began.
The salary and benefits shall be paid for the period commencing the 3151 day of the
employee's military leave except as provided herein below and shall continue for the
duration of the period of the employee's active duty necessitated by the deployment of
military personnel in response to the terrorist acts against the United States on
September 11, 2001. If the employee has been on military leave more than once
within the same fiscal year, the salary and benefits provided herein shall be paid from
the first day of the employee's military leave for the second and subsequent activations
which commence within the same fiscal year.
SECTION 3.
That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution.

the foregoing Resolution No. 6268 was passed and adopted by the City Council of the

meeting of said Council held on the 20th day of November, 2001 and that said
Resolution was adopted by the following vote, to wit:
