A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA 1 DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO ESTABLISH SETBACK LINES ON CERTAIN STREETS AND AVENUES IN SAID CITY OF ARCADIA. 2 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: That the public interest, health, comfort, convenience, safety and general welfare require and it is the intention of said City Council to establish setback lines on certain streets and Avenues in said City of Arcadia, except as hereinafter specif1ed, a,s follows: Setback lines distant twenty-five feet Northerly from and parallel to the Northerly lines of Laurel Avenue; Floral Avenue Easterly from First Avenue; Alice street; Hillcrest Boulevard; Lucile street; California street from Santa Anita Avenue to Sec- ond Avenue and Newman Avenue. setback lines distant twenty-five feet Southerly from and ~ .j, parallel to the Southerly lines of Laurel Avenue; Floral Avenue Easterly from First Avenue; Alice Street; Hillcrest/Boulevard; Lucile street; California Street from Santa Anita Avenue to Sec- ond Avenue; Newman Avenue and Haven Avenue; Setback lines distant twenty-five feet Easterly from and parallel to the Easterly lines of Fourth Avenue from the right of way of,The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway to Hunting- ton Drive; La Cadena Avenue Northerly from the right of way of. the Southern Pacific Railway Company and Lorena Avenue and First Avenue Northerly from Foothill Boulevard. Setback lines distant sixty feet Westerly from and par- allel to the Westerly lines of Oakwood Avenue and First Avenue Northerly from Foothill Boulevard, provided however, that nothing herein contained shall be so construed as to prevent the erection, construction or location of any building or other structure upon any lot or land fronting on any of the streets or Avenues herein- above mentioned, except in conformity to the setback lines herein proposed to be established, where such lot or land is situate with- in Zones D" E, F, and G., as established by Ordinance No. 170 of said City of Arcadia, entitled: "An Ordinance of the City of Ar- cadia,California, providing for theestablishment or erection in said City of seven Zones consisting of various Districts and pre- ' scribing the classes of buildings, st~uctures. improvements and occupancy in said several Zones and the uses thereof; the percentage of area that may be covered by improvements and theheighth to which buildings may be erected; defining the terms used therein and prescribing the penalty for the violation of the provisions thereof", adopted March 3, 1926, and Ordinance No. 217 of said City of Arcadia, entitled: nAil Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, amending Sections 2, 10 and 11 of Ordinance No. 170 of said City of Arcadia and adding thereto a new section to be known and numbered Section 9-An, adopted August 15, 1925, provided further, that when any lot or parcel of land fronting on any of the Streets or Avenues upon which it is proposed to establish setback lines as hereinabove ~rovided, is situate at the junction of two intersecting streets and having two street ~I -5- . .. z ~ o~ z "'< ~ C).J ~ Ill- J :>< < tn~ u ~~ ~ ~ > zoO z~ ~ :>< 0 o . 7' I 8; II 9 !l 10 :1 111 12 I . . . . 1 frontages, any building or other structure may be ereoted upon such Lot or land to a line which shall be distant from the side 2 3 street line, measured at right angles thereto, not less than ten feet on all Lots 60 feet or less in width and not less than 13 feet on all Lots varying from sixty feet to seventy-five feet in width and not less than 20 feet on all Lots varying from 75 feet to 100 feet in width and not less than the established setback line of the adjoining side street on all Lots over 100 feet in width. 4! I 51 61 , SECTION 2: Notice is hereby given that Tuesday, the 5th. day of May, 1931, at eight 0 I clock P. M. of said d~, in the Council Chamber of the City Council of said City of Arcadia, 13 in the City Hall of said City, any and all persons having any 14 obj ections to said proposed setback 11 nes may appear before said 15 I Oi ty Council and show Oause why said setback lines should not be , 16 I established in accordance with this Resolution. 17 SECTION 3: The Superintendent of streets shall post 18 19 20 I 21 i 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 or Cause to be posted conspicuously along each and every street, Avenue: or other Highway along which it is proposed to fix and es- tablish such setback lines, at not more than 500 feet in distance, apart, notices of the passage of this Resolution of Intention. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and shall cause the same to be published once in The Arcadia News, a weekly newspaper publi shed and circulated in said Ci ty of Arcadia. The foregoing Resolution was adopted at a regular meeting of the Oi ty Oouncil of said City of Arcadia, held on the 7th. d~ of April, 1931, by the affirmative vote of at least three Councilmen, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen: Bolz, Bottema, Link, Seaman and Walshe, NOES: None, i I .-A -6~ . - . z z.
