RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 618.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO IMPROVE A PORTION OF SUNSET BOULEVARD
IN SAID CITY OF ARCADIA: DECLARING SAID ITORK OR IMPROVEMENT TO
BE OF llOP~ THAN LOCAL OR ORDINARY PUBLIC BENEFIT AND DESCRIBING
THE DISTRICT TO BE BENEFITED BY SAID crORK OR IMPROVEMENT AND TO
BE ASSESSED TO PAY A PORTION OF THE COSTS AND EXPENSES THEREOF,
DETERMINING THAT SERIAL BONDS SHALL BE ISSUED TO REPRESENT A
PORTION OF THE COSTS AND EXPENSES THEREOF: DECLARING THAT ONE
THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED AND FIFTY ($1650.00) DOLLARS OF THE COSTS
AND EXPENSES THEREOF SHALL BE BORNE BY SAID CITY OF ARCADIA AND
PAID FROM THE GENERAL FUND OF SAID CITY: FIXING A TIME AND PLACE
FOR HEARING OBJECTIONS TO SAID PROPOSED WORK OR IMPROVEMENT OR
TO THE EX~ENT OF THE DISTRICT TO BE ASSESSED, OR BOTH, AND
PROVIDING THAT THE PROPOSED ITORK OR IMPROVEMENT SHALL BE DONE
UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THAT CERTAIN ACT OF THE LEGISLATURE OF
THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DESIGNATED "THE IMPROVEMENT ACT OF1911u.
AND OF ALL ACTS SUPPLEMENTARY THERETO OR AMENDATORY THEREOF. i
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DO RESOLVE AS I
FOLLOWS: I
SECTION 1: That the public interest and convenience re- I
quire and it is the intention of the City Council of said City ofl
Arcadia to order the following nork and improvement to be done
in said City of Aroadia, to-wit:,
FIRST: That a concrete curb be constructed in Sunset
Boulevard from the Southerly line of Huntington Drive to the
Northerly line of Duarte Road in said City of Arcadia, along Q
line parallel to and ten (10) feet Easterly from the Westerly
line of said Sunset Boulevard, except where a concrete curb is
already constructed in said portion of Sunset Boulevard to the
official line and grade and is now in good condition and also
excepting therefrom such portions of said Sunset Boulevard and
intersections as are required by law to be kept in order or re-
pair by any person or company having railroad tracks thereon.
SECOND: That a concrete curb be constructed in said

portion of Sunset Boulevard along a line parallel to and ten (10)

feet Westerly from the Easterly line of said Sunset Boulevard, I
except where a concrete curb is already constructed in said por- I
tion of Sunset Boulevard to the official line and grade and is
now in good condition and also excepting therefrom such portions
of said Sunset Boulevard and intersections as are required by

on Huntington Drive to the Northerly line of the existing pavem~t

pavement non in place in said portion of Sunset Boulevard, be

That that portion of the roadway of said Sunset Boulevard
from the Southerly line of the existing pavement on Huntington
Drive to the llortherly line of the existing pavement on Duarte
Road, t~elve (12) feet in width and situate between the Uesterly
curb Une of said Sunset Boulevard and the 011 macadam pavement
now in place in said portion of Sunset Boulevard be graded and
paved uith oil macadam pavement four (4) inches thick, exoept

SECTION 3:

this Resolution, is that shown on Profile and Improvement Plan
to which said Profile and Improvement Plan reference is hereby
made for the description of such grade.

SECTION 4: All of the foregoing work shall be done 10
accordance with said Profile and Improvement Plan No. 0-153, on
file in the office of the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia.!
Sa~d work ehall also be in accordance with the following
Specifications on file in the office of the City Clerk of said
City of Arcadia, to-wit:
Standard specifications No. 0 for the construction of
curbs, sidewalks, gutters, oil macadam pavement and concrete
pavement.
Said Profile and Improvement plan No. C-153 and the
Specifications, hereinabove referred to, were adopted by Resolu- I
tiOD No. 616 of said City Council and the same are hereby made a!
i
part of this Resolution and are hereby referred to for a more
particula~ description of said work.
All Streets and Avenues referred to in this Resolution
are Public Streets and Avenues of said City of Arcadia.
SECTION 5:
That said contemplated work or improvement
in the opinion of the City Council of said City of Arcadia is
of more than local or ordinary public benefit and said City
Council hereby determines and declares that the City of Arcadie
shall pay.out of the General Fund of said City of Arcadia towards
the costs and expense of the work or improvement to be performed:
and made hereunder the sum of One Thousand, Six Hundred and
Fifty (01650.00) Dollars and said City Council hereby declares
that the balance of the costs and expense of said work or im-
provement shall be chargeable upon a District, which District
said Oity Council hereby deolares to be the Distriot benefited
by said work and improvement and to be assessed to pay the said I
balance of the costs and expense thereof, and which Distriot is
bounded and described as follows:
Beginning at the Northwesterly corner of Lot 1, Tract No.
2731, in the City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, State of

Records of said County, thence Easterly in a direct line along
the Southerly line of Huntington Drive to the Northeasterly
corner of Lot B of sald Tract 2731; thence Southerly ln a dlrect,

Seventy and tuenty-eight hundredths (70.28) feet Easterly from
the South~esterly corner of Lot 137 of said Tract 2731; thence
Westerly along the Northerly line of sald Duarte Road to the
South~esterly corner of Lot 146 of said Tract 2731; thence
Northerly in a direct line along the Uesterly Boundary Line of
said City of Arcadia to the place of beginning.
The above description is general only. A Plat or Map of
said District indicating by a boundary line the extent of the
terrltory lncluded ln the proposed Assessment Dlstrict is on
file ln the office of said City Engineer. Reference is hereby
made to said Plat or Map for e. further, full and complete des-
cription of said Assessment District. The said Plat or Uap so
on file Shall govern for all details as to the extent of suoh
Assessment District.
SECTION 6: Said City Council also determines and declares
that' Serial Bonds shall be issued to represent each assessment
of Toenty-five (~25.00) Dollars or more remaining unpaid for
thirty days after the date of the Warrant to represent the ex-
penses of $aid ~ork and improvement. Said Serial Bonds shall

extend over a period ending nine (9) years from the second day ofl
January next suoceeding the fifteenth day of the next November
I
follouing their date and an even annual proportion of the princi-
pal sum thereof shall be payable by coupon on the second day of
January every year after the fifteenth day of the next November
follo~ing t~eir date, until the whole is paid, and the interest
shall be payable semi-annually by coupon on the second days of
January and. JUly, respectively, of each year after their date at

the rate of seven (7) per cent per annum on all sums unpaid, un- '
til the uhole of said principal and interest are paid. Payments
upon the principal of unpaid assessments and interest shall be
made by the property OTIners to the City Treasurer and the same
shall be disbursed by said City Treasurer, all as provided in
said Improvement Act of 1911.
SECTI01~ 7:
l~ot1ce is hereby given that on Tuesday, the
twenty-first day of July, 1931, at the hour of eight o'clock P.
M. of said day, in the Oouncil Chamber of. the City Council of
said City of Arcadia, in the Oity Hall of said Oity, any and all ,1
persons having any objections to said proposed work or improvemen .
or to the extent of the District to be assessed, or both, may ,

appear before said Oity Council and sho~ cause uhy said proposed i

this Resolution. I
SECTIOII 8:
All of the proceedings for the aforesaid work
and improvement and for the issuanoe of said bonds shall be had
and taken under and in accordance with the provisions of an Act
of the Legislature of the state of Oalifornia, known and desig-
nated as the "Improvement Act of 1911", approved April 7, 1911,
and of all Acts supplementary thereto or amendatory thereof,
SEOTIon 9:
The Superintendent of streets shall post or
cause to be posted, conspicuously along the line of said contem-
plated work or improvement and also along all the open streets

within the District liable to be assessed and hereinabove descrih1
ed, Notices of the passage of this Resolution in the manner and
form required by lau.
SEeTIOlT 10:
The City Clerk shall certify to the pes sase of'
this Resolution and shall oause the same to be published twioe
in The Aroadia News, a weekly newspaper published and oiroulated
in said City of Arcadia and hereby designated for that purpose.

Said City Council does not deem it advisable that the City Clerk

mail copies of "Notice of Improvement" to the Omlers or reputed i
Omlers of property uithin the said Assessment Distriot and the
mailing of such notices is hereby dispensed with.
The foregoing Resolution was adopted at anadjQurned-
regulan meeting of the City Counoi1 of said City of Arcadia,
held on the 30th. day of June, 1931, by the affirmative vote
