HomeMy WebLinkAbout5022 RESOLUTION NO. 5022 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 4186 BY AMENDING THE CITY OF ARCADIA PERSONNEL RULES AND REGULATIONS TO CONFORM THOSE SECTIONS CONCERNING SICK LEAVE AND BEREAVEMENT LEAVE WITH AGREEMENTS ENTERED INTO AS A RESULT OF THE MEET AND CONFER PROCESS TAKING PLACE DURING THE YEAR 1981 WITH CERTAIN RECOGNIZED EMPLOYEE ORGANIZATIONS. WHEREAS, a part of the meet and confer process between the City of Arcadia and various of its recognized employee organizations changes to portions of the City of Arcadia Personnel Rules and Regulations con- cerning sick leave and bereavement leave were agreed. WHEREAS, on February 11, 1982 the Personnel Board of the City of Arcadia recommended to the City Council the amendments to the Personnel Rules and Regulations contained herein; and WHEREAS, the best interests of the City of Arcadia and its employees will be served by the adoption of said amendments. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES HERE- BY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Resolution No. 4186 of this City Council is hereby amended by amending the City of Arcadia Personnel Rules and Regulations contained therein by: A. Amending Rule VIII, Section 4, Subsections (c), (d), (e), and (f) thereof to read as follows: (c) Sick leave means authorized absence from duty of an employee because of illness or exposure to contagious disease. (d) Sick leave may be used by an employee when their atten- dance upon a member of the employee's family dependent who is seriously ill and requiring the care and attendance of such employee. Family dependents shall include only dependents currently residing in the employee's household, or the employee's minor children. (e) The appointing power and City Manager may require evidence of the reason for any employee's absence caused by illness or death in the immediate family of the employee during the time for which sick leave is requested. (f) A full-time employee in the classified or non-classified service, with the exception of temporary appointments, may be granted -1- 5022 a leave of absence with pay upon approval of the appointing power and the City Manager at the time of death, or where death appears imminent in the immediate family, defined as the spouse, the employee or employee's spouse's mother, stepmother or father, stepfather, brother or sister, child or stepchild, grandparents, grandchildren, or any relative of the employee or employee's spouse residing in the same' household. Such leave, up to a maximum of three (3) working days at one time, shall not be charged against sick or other leave. If over three (3) working days of such leave is granted at one time, that amount over three (3) days shall be charged against sick or other leave. (g) In case of absence due to illness, the employee shall notify his department in accordance with departmental rules and explain the nature of the illness. The appointing power and City Manager may deny or revoke siCk leave if the illness or injury for which it is taken is caused or substantially aggravated by compensated outside employment. SECTION 2. That the Clerk of the Council shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
