RESOLUTION NO. 709.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DO RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, There is a considerable number of Unemployed
in the City of Arcadia, and
pose Qf relieving the Unemployment Situation in said City of Ar-
cadia, and
WHEREAS, the City of Arcadia will be governed by the
Code of Fair Competition, as per Title No. I of the National In-
dustrial Recovery Act or under the Presi4ent's Reemployment Agreer
I
ment, and that no displacement of regularly employed persons is . I
contemplated in this Application for a Civil Works Administrationl
I
project, and that the project contemplated is not provided for in.
any previous Budget, and could not be done without the assistancel
I
of the Civil Works Administration.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council
of the City of Arcadia hereby requests the Civil Works Adminis-
tration of said Los Angeles County to supply 14,600 hours Labor
,
necessary to complete the work hereinafter specified and to pro- I'
vide moneys for such labor together with the sum of $1226.50,
. I
23 representing a portion of the cost of the necessary materials
24- for the purpose of cleaning and repairing streets within said
25 City of Arcadia damaged by flood waters resulting from the heavy
26 Rainfall of December 30 and 31, 1933, and January 1, 1934, as
27 follows: VALNETT AVENUE from Eighth Avenue to Tenth Avenue;
28 WALNUT AVElnJE from Sixth Avenue to the Easterly City Lim1ts;
29 EL MONTE AVENUE from Duarte Road to Las Tunas Drive; VALNETT
30 AVENUE from El Monte Avenue to Santa Anita Avenue; HUNTINGTON
31 DRIVE from Colorado Street to the right of way of the Pacific

Electrio Railway; COLORADO STREET from Huntington Drive to

the Westerly City Limits, and ORANGE AVENUE at the Atchison,
Topeka and Banta Fe Railway.
The City Clerk shall cert1fy to the adoption of th1s
Resolution.
The foregoing Resolution Was adopted at a regular meet-
ing of the City Counoil of said City of Aroadia, held on the 2nd.
day of January, 1934, by the affirmative vote of at least three
Counoilmen, to-wit:
AYES: Councilmen, Daniels, Krebs, Link and Schrader.
NOES: None,
ABSENT: Oouncilman Seaman,
and signed and approved this 2nd. day of January, 1934.
