RESOLUTION NO. 728
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA ORDERING THE HOLDING OF A SPECIAL ELECTION IN
SAID CITY OF ARCADIA ON THE 23RD DAY OF AUGUST, 1934,
for the purpose of submi tt1ng to the ELECTORS IN SAID
CITY OF ARCADIA THE QUESTION WHETHER WALTER A, SCHRADER,
A MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF SAID CITY OF ARCADIA
SHALL BE RECALLED AND IF RECALLED, WHETHER THE CITY
COUNCIL SHALL FILL THE VACANCY BY APPOINTMENT OR CALL
A SPECIAL ELECTION FOR THAT PURPOSEt PROVIDING FOR !HE
POLLING PLACES FOR THE HOLDING OF SUCH ELECTION, AP-
POINTING THE ELECTION OFFICERS FOR THE SAME AND FIXING
THEIR COMPENSATION.
THE CITY COUNC IL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DO RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
That a Special Election be and the same is hereby
called to be held in the City of Arcadia on the 23rd day of
August, 1934, for the purpose of voting upon the following prop-
os it ions, to-W1. t:
Shall Walter A. Schrader be recalled from the office
or member of the Ci ty Counc 11 of saId Ci ty of Arcad:IB.?
If the Recall prevails, shall the City Council of the
Cit y of Arcad1 a fill the vacancy by appointment or call a Special
Election for that purpose.
That the ballots to be used at said Special Election
shall conform to the prOVisions of an Act of the Legislature of
the State of California, entitled: "An Act to provide for the
recall of elective officers of incorporated cities and towns
and to repeal Chapter 32, Statutes of 1911, Extra Session, en-
titled, 'An Act to provide for the recall of elective officers
of incorporated cities and town,' approved January 2, 1912," ap-
proved May 8, 1931.
That the polls for said Special Election shall be open-
ed at six o'clock on the morning of the day of said Election and
shall be kept open until seven o'clock in the afternoon of the
same day, when the polls shall be closed, except as provided in

Section 1164 of the Political Code of the State of CalifornIa.
That said Special Election shall be held in accordance
wi th the provisions of an Act of the Legislature of the State of
California, entitled: "An Act to provide for and regulate munici-
pal elec tions in cities of the fi fth and si xth class," approved
May 27, 1919, approved June 19, 1931, and in all other respects
not otherwise provided for therein, shall be held and conducted
in accordance with the General Election Laws of the State of
California so far as the same may be applicable.
That the Election Precincts last established and desig-
nated withIn said City of Arcadia by the Board of Supervisors of
the County of Los Angeles, State of California, for the holding
of General Elections and which said Election Precincts so est~blish-
ed were and are designated as Arcadia City Precincts Nos. 1, 2, 3,
4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10, respectively, shall for the purpose of
said Special Election be consolIdated, designated and shall embrace
all tmt pert of said City of Arcadia as folloVls:
A. Arcadia City Precinct No.1, Arcadia City Precinct
No.2 and Arcadia City Precinct No.3 shall be consolidated and
designated as Arcadia City Consolidated Precinct No. I, whiCh
said Arcadia City Consolidated Precinct No.1 shall consist of
and be co-extensive with said Arcadia City Precincts Nos. 1, 2
and 3.
B. Arcadia City Precinct No.4, Arcadia CIty Precinct
No.5 and Arcadia CIty Precinct No.6 shall be consolidated and
designated as Arcadia City Consolidated Precinct No.2, which
said Arcadia City Consolidated Precinct No. 2 shall consist of
and be co-extensive with said ArcadIa City Precincts Nos. 4, 5
and 6.
C. Arcadia City Precinct No.7 and Arcadia City Pre-
cinct No.8 shall be consolidated and designated as Arcadia City

Consolidated Precinct No.3, which said Arcadia City Consolidated
Precinct NO.3 shall consist of and be coextensive with said
Arcadia City Precincts Nos. 7 and 8.
D. Arcadia City Precinct No. 9 and Arcadia City Pre-
cinct No. 10 shall be consolidated and designated as Arcadia City
Consolidated Precinct No.4, which said Arcadia City Consolidated
Precinct No.4 shell consist of and be coextensive with said Ar-
cadia City Precincts Nos. 9 and 10.
~hat the respective polling places for the holding of
said Special Election and the respective Officers of said Elec-
tion are hereby designated and named as follows, to-wit:
ARCADIA CITY CONSOLIDATED PRECINCT NO.1.
POLL!NG PLACE, Chamber of Commerce Office, City Hall,
situate at Northwest corner of First Avenue and Huntington I~ive,
in said City of Arcadia.

That the compensation to be paid to each of said Officers
of Election for all services by each of said Officers to be rendered ..
at said Special Election shall be and the same is hereby fixed at the
sum of $6.00.
That said City Council will meet at its usual place of
meeting on Monday, August 27th, 1934, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock
P. M. to canvass the returns of said Election and declare the re-
suIt thereof.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution.
The foregoing Resolution was adoptce'dat a special meet-

ing of the City Council of said City of Arcadia, held on the 25th
day of Ju!y, 1934, by the affirmative vote of at least three
Councilmen, to-wit:
