THE CITY COUBCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DO RESOLVE, 4 AS FOLLOWS: 5 That on acoount of the building of a race track, the 6 oonduoting of horse raoing and the gsneral traffio and increased 7 work and expense on the part of the Police Department and other 8 departments of the City of Aroadla, that the City Councl1 of the 9 City of Arcadia deems it neoessary to excesd the five (5%) per 10 oent limitation as providsd in Article XI, Seotion 20 of the 11 Conetitution of the State of California, known as the Riley- 12 Stewart Act; 13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that that oertain applioation 14 for authority to exoeed the five (5%) per oent limitation as 15 provided in Artiole XI, Section 20 of the Constitution of the 16 State of California, be filed with the Board of Equalization of 17 ,the State of California; 18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor of this Council 19 and the City Clerk be and they are hereby authorized and directed 20 to sign said applioation; 21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Attorney, 22 William R. Elam, be and he is hereby authorized and directed to 23 present said application to the Board of Equalization of the State 24 of California and do any and all things necessary in oonneotion 25 ths:rewith. 26 I hereby certlfy that the foregolng Resolution was edJpurned 27 adopted at a rsgular/meeting of the City Council of the City of 28 Aroadia, held on the 21st day of November, 1934, by the affirma- 29 tive vote of at least three councilman, to-wit: 30 31 32 AYES: Councilmen, Corby, Daniels, Hoffman and MoLean. ...
