RESOLUTION NO. 4178
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA ESTABLISHING
UNDERGROUND UTILITY DISTRICT NO. 4
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Arcadia
as follows:
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 4175, a public hearing was
called for 19 January 1971, at the hour of 7:30 o'clock p.m.) in
the Council Chambers in the City Hall, Arcadia, California, to
ascertain whether the public necessity, health, safety, or welfare
requires the removal of poles, overhead wires and associated overhead
structures, and the underground installation of wires and facilities
for supplying electric, communication, or similar or associated
service, within'that certain area of the City described as follows:
Parcel 1 - That portion of Michillinda Avenue which
is entirely in the City of Arcadia and specifically
described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of Arcadia City
Boundary as it existed on December 1, 1970, and
the centerline of Colorado Street; thence easterly
along said centerline to a line that is parallel
with and distant easterly 20 feet from saiu
boundary; thence southerly 600 feet along said
parallel line; thence due west to a line that is
parallel with and distant easterly 15 feet from
said boundary; thence southerly along last said
parallel line to the centerline of Sunset Boulevard;
thence due east to a line that is parallel with and
distant easterly 17 feet from said boundary; thence
southerly along last said parallel line to its inter-
section with the easterly prolongation of the
northerly line of the first alley approximatp.J.Y 200
feet north of Huntington Drive; thence west along
said prolongation to said boundary; thence northerly
along said boundary to the point of beginning,

WHEREAS, notice of such hearing has been given to all
affected property owners as such are shown on the last equalized
assessment roll and to all utilities concerned in the manner and
within the time required by law; and
WHEREAS, such hearing has been duly and regularly held,
and all persons interested have been given an opportunity to be
heard;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Arcadia, that, pursuant to Ordinance No, 1375 of the City
of Arcadia, the above-described area is hereby declared an Under-
ground utility district, and is designated as Underground Utility
District No.4 of the City of Arcadia,
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the City Council does hereby fix
31 January 1972 as the date on which affected property owners must
be ready to receive underground service, provided such owners need
not prepare for such service if such service is otherwise available
to such owners rrom outside said area, and does hereby order the
removal of all poles, overhead wires and associated overhead struc-
tures and the underground installation of wire~ and facilities for
supplying electric, communication, or similar or associated service
within Underground Utility District No, 4 on or before 31 January
1972; provided such underground service need not be made available
where such service is available to such owners from outside said
area,
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the City Council of the City of
Arcadia hereby finds and determines that the public necessity,
health, safety w1d welfare require the removal of poles, overhead
wires and associated structures, and the underground installation
of wires and facilities for supplying electric, communication, or
similar or associated service in said area,

RESOLVED, FURTHER, that said City Council finds and
determines:
1. That the undergrounding to be accomplished pursuant
to this resolution will avoid or eliminate an unusually heavy
concentration of overhead distribution facilities,
2. The streets, roads, or rights-of-way in said are are
extensively used by the general public and carry a heavy volume of
pedestrian and vehicular traffic,
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the City Clerk, within ten (10)
days after the adoption of this resolution, shall mail a copy
hereof and a copy of Ordinance No. 1375 to affected property owners
as such are shown on the last equalized assessment roll and to the
affected utilities,
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia
held on the 19th
