HomeMy WebLinkAbout4179 RESOLUTION NO. 4179 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA URGING THE STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION TO LANDSCAPE THE FOOTHILL FREEWAY BETWEEN SANTA ANITA AVENUE AND MICHILLINDA BOULEVARD IN 1972 WHEREAS, the Foothill Freeway between Santa Anita Avenue and Michillinda Boulevard traverses a fine single family residential area within the City of Arcadia andWlits the Los Angeles State and County Arboretum, and WHEREAS, construction of the freeway required the removal of many very old and very beautiful oak trees as well as other , ornamental,trees and landscaping; and WHEREAS, it is vital to the preservation of the very fine adjacent residential area that the impact of the freeway be minimized to the fullest extent possible; and WHEREAS, landscaping of the freeway at the earliest possible time will help substantially to preserve the character of the adjacent community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the California Highway Commission is urgently requested to make funds available for the landscaping of the Foothill Freeway between Santa Anita Avenue and Michillinda Boulevard in 1972, The Secretary shall certify to the adoption of this resolution. -1- 4179 I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held on the 19th day of January, 1971, by the affirmative vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit: AYES: Councilmen Arth, Considine, Hage, Helms, and Butterworth NOES: None ABSEwr : None ~'-- Arcadia SIGNED AND APPROVED this 19th day of January 1971. /!?
