RESOLUTION NO. 4187
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ARCADIA EXPRESSING CONCERN REGARDING
THE REQUEST OF THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
EDISON COMPANY FOR A SUBSTANTIAL RATE
INCREASE.
WHEREAS, the Southern California Edison Company is now
requesting a substantial rate increase from the California Public
Utilities Commission; and
WHEREAS, local governments are large consumers of electrical
power for public services; and
WHEREAS, substantial quantities of power are used during
"off-peak" hours for street lighting which increases traffic safety
and the security of citizens in their neighborhoods and homes; and
WHEREAS, further rate increases may significantly affect
local government tax rates and Lighting District rates and discourage
extension of lighting projects; and
WHEREAS, at the present time any request for rate increases
should be scrutinized,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Arcadia that it urges the California Public Utilities Com-
mission to carefully consider the increased cost to cities when
reviewing the request for a rate increase by the Southern California
Edison Company.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be
forwarded to the California Public Utilities Commission.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution.
