HomeMy WebLinkAbout4503 RESOLUTION NO. 4503 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA ESTABLISHING COMPENSATION FOR VARIOUS POSITIONS IN THE CITY EMPLOY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1975-1976 AND ESTAB- LISHING COMPENSATION FOR CERTAIN POSITIONS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1976-1977. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Additional benefits set forth hereinafter shall be as described in the attached document entitled "Explanation of Benefits." SECTION 3. Effective January 1, 1976: (1) ,Single highest year retirement (2) Consumer Price Index Salary Increase not to exceed 4.5% c. Effective July 1, 1976: (1) Salary increase of 5% d. Effective January 1, 1977: (1) Consumer Price Index Salary Increase not to exceed 5% SECTION 6. The classifications set forth below: Police Captain Police Sergeant Policeman Police Lieutenant Police Agent Police Clerk shall be provided with the following additional benefits to be effective upon the dates designated: a. Effective July 1, 1975: (1) Dental Plan (2) Uniform Replacement Program (3) City pay increase in Employee-Only Major Medical and Disability Income Insurance b. Effective January 1, 1976: (1) Single highest year retirement (2) Salary increase of 3.5% c. Effective July 1, 1976: (1) Salary increase of 5% d. Effective January 1, 1977: (1) Salary increase of 3.5% -6- 4503 SECTION 7. The classifications set forth below: Pump Mechanic Equipment Mechanic Public Works Foreman Water Foreman General Repairman Water Service Representative Maintenance Man Equipment Service Man Equipment Operator Pumping Plant Operator Store Keeper Traffic Painter Sweeper Operator Service Man Tree Trimmer shall be provided with the following additional benefits to be effective upon the dates designated: a. Effective July 1, 1975: (1) Dental Plan (2) Day after Thanksgiving holiday (3) City pay increase in Employee-Only Major Medical and Disability Income Insurance b. Effective January 1, 1976: (1) Salary increase of 3% (2) Single highest year retirement c. Effective July 1, 1976: (1) Salary increase of 4.5% d. Effective January 1, 1977: (1) Salary increase of 3.5% SECTION 8. The classificatiornset forth below: Maintenance Man Service Man shall be provided with the following additional benefits to be effective upon the date designated: a. Effective January 1, 1977: (1) Additional salary increase of .5% SECTION 9. The classification set forth below: Fire Captain shall be provided with the following additional benefits to be -7- 4503 effective upon the date designated: a. Effective July 1, 1976: (1) Additional salary increase of 2.5% SECTION 10. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution. Mayor of the C1t Arcad1a SIGNED AND APPROVED this ATTEST: ~0tM( City Clerk (SEAL) -8- 4503 EXPLANATION OF BENEFITS The following definitions shall apply to the benefits set forth in Salary Resolution No. 4503: 1. Dental Plan: The City of Arcadia shall provide a dental insurance plan. The insurance premium for the employee-only coverage portion of the dental plan shall be paid for by the City. The dental plan shall provide for dependent coverag~ at the option of the employee. Cost of dependent coverage to be paid for by the employee. 2. City pay increase in Employee-Only Major Medical and Disability Income Insurance: Increased insurance premium cost of the employee-only portion of the City's Major Medical and Disability Income Insurance Plans shall be paid for by the City. 3. Uniform Replacement Program: There shall be a uniform replacement program for the following items: A. Shirts. B. Trousers C. Shoes " The program shall be administered by, and at the discretion of, the City for the purpose of providing replacement of worn items only. In regard to shoes, a purchase order of up to $25 shall be granted for the purchase of a pair of regulation shoes. 4. 56-hour Duty Week: The duty week shall be 56 hours. 5. Day After Thanksgiving Holiday: The holiday schedule shall be increased by adding the day after Thanksgiving. -1- 6. Contribution to Dependent Medical Insurance: The City of Arcadia shall increase its contribution for dependent medical insurance by $10 per month. The aforementioned $10 increase is paid directly to the employee and has already been included in the salary step schedules set forth in Section 1 to Salary Resolution No. 4503. 7. Salary Increase: Wherever the term "salary increase" appears followed by a percentage figure, the then salary of the classification covered shall be increased by the said percentage figure. 8. Consumer Price Index Salary Increase not to Exceed %: There shall be an adjustment in the classification salary step schedule equal to the percentage change in the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers, Los Angeles/Long Beach, C All Items Series A for the immediate preceding May through November period, determined as follows: there shall be no decrease in the salaries for any classifications subject to this provision due to a decline in said Consumer Price Index, and further, any pay adjustment based on an increase in the said Consumer Price Index shall have an upper limit of the percentage figure set forth following the benefit title. The percentage change shall be rounded to the nearest tenth of one percent, and the salary adjustment rounded to the nearest dollar. 9. Single Highest Year Retirement: City shall modify the Public Employees' Retirement Program benefits for the - 2 - classifications affected by providing section 20024.2 -- one year final compensation instead of three years. The Public Employees' Retirement System shall be notified immediately by the City of Arcadia to effect section 20024.2 as of January 1, 1976. -3-
