RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA URGING WATER CONSERVATION AND ADOPTING
A TEN PERd:NT GOAL FOR VOLWTARY WATER CONSER- '
VATION
WHEREAS, rainfall for the current water year has been
substantially below normal, particularly in Northern California and
the Central Valley, and, ~n the abs~nce of major storms, 1977 will be
another year of serious drought which will cause water shortages in many
communities and farming areas of the state, and
WHEREAS, the cooperation and active participation of all pub-
lic officials and people of the State of California is essential in
conserving our water supplies during this drought, and
WHEREAS, even though prudent planning by Southern California
water agencies has assured a water supply sufficiently abundant for

every: necessary water use, an active water conservation program must
nevertheless immediately commence.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Arcadia urges each householder and businessperson of the 'City
of Arcadia to exercise the greatest care in the use of water to avoid
waste.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Arcaaia adopts a goal of reducing the present rate of water consumption
by ten percent through voluntary water conservation measures.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of the resolu-
tion.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted

at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held
on the 5th day of April, 1977, by the affirmative vote of at least three
Council members, 1:0 wit:
