RESOLUTION NO. 4782
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA APPROVING A MAP AND DECLARING INTENTION
TO VACATE AND ABANDON A PORTION OF INDIANA STREET
AT WHEELER AVENUE DIRECTING THE CLERK OF THE
COUNCIL TO FILE SAID MAP IN HER OFFICE DESCRIBING
SAID PORTION; RESERVING EASEMENTS AND RIGHTS-OF-
WAY TO BE EXCEPTED; SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING THERE-
ON FOR NOVEMBER 2l, 1978; AND DIRECTING NOTICE
HEREOF TO BE POSTED AND PUBLISHED.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES HEREBY FIND,
DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. This City Council of the City of Arcadia does hereby
approve that certain map showing the proposed street abandonment of
a portion of Indiana Street located at Wheeler Avenue, attached here-
to in two parts as Exhibit "A", as the map showing aforedescribed
street portion which this Council hereinafter declares its intention
to vacate and abandon subject to the reservation and exception of
certain easements and rights-of-way hereinafter described.
Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to file said map
in her office where the same may be examined by any and all persons
desiring to do so.
Section 3. Pursuant to and in accordance with provisions of
Part 3 of Division 9 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State
of California, this Council does hereby declare its intention to
order the vacation and abandonment of, and to vacate and abandon
that portion of Indiana Street located at Wheeler Avenue, subject
to the easements and rights-of-way hereinafter described and hereby
finds that the public convenience and necessity require the reser-
vation of the easements and rights-of-way hereinafter described.
Section 4. Notice is hereby given that at the hour of 7:30 P.M.
or as soon thereafter as the matter can be heard, on the 21st day
of November, 1978, in the Council Chambers of the Arcadia City Hall,
240 West Huntington Drive, Arcadia, California, a public hearing
will be held by this Council at which time any and all persons in-
terested in or Objecting to the proposed vacation and abandonment

and the reservations and exceptions of the easements and rights-
of-way hereinafter described may appear and be heard.
Section 5. The Clerk of the Council is hereby directed to
cause the Resolution to be published in the official newspaper of
the City of Arcadia within fifteen (l5) days after the date of
adoption of this Resolution and at least ten (10) days before the
date set for said hearing.
Section 6. The Director of Public Works is hereby directed to
cause notices of said proposed street vacation and abandonment to
be posted conspicuously along the line of the portion of the street
hereinafter described, which is proposed to be vacated and abandoned
at least ten (10) days before the date set for said hearing. Such
notices shall be posted not more than three hundred feet (300')
apart, but at least three (3) shall be posted. Such notices shall
state the passage of this Resolution of Intention and the time and
place of the hearing.
Section 7. Said portion of the street proposed
to be vacated and reservations of easements and rights-of-way are
more fully described in Exhibit "B", which is attached hereto and
by this reference incorporated herein.
Section 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution.

PORTION TO UE VAC^TE~
That portion of Indiana Street, 40 feet wide, lying within-
Dlock 77 of Arcadia Santa Anita Tract, in the City of Arcadia,
County of Los Angeles, State of California described as fol-
lows:
Beginning at the most easterly corner of Lot 7, Olock 77 of
said Trast; thence along the northeasterly line of said Lot,
North 51 32' 30" West 32.91 feet to the true point of beginning,
said true point of beginning being a point in a curve concave
to the South having a radius of 4b feet through which a radial
liRe of said curve bears North 15 42' 47" West; thence North
51 32' 30" W!'!st 7.29 feet n10ng said northeasterly line: ..
thence East 64.3J. feet to the nsrtheasterly line of ' said
Indiana Street; thence South 51 32' 30" East 40.20 feet
:along last mentioned northeasterly line: thence West 42.65
feet to a point in a non-tangent curve concave to the south-
west having a radius of 41 fset through which a radial line
of said curve bears North 62 23' 32" East; thence northwest-
er~y along said curve 55.89 feet (through a central angle of
78 06' 19") to the true point of beginning.
Reserving and excepting to the City of Arcadia the permanen~
easement and right at any time, or from time to time, to
construct, maintain, operate, replace, remove, anG renew sani-
tary sewers and storm drains and appurtenant structures'in, upon,
over and across any street or part thereof proposed to be vacated
and pursuant to any existing franchises or renewals thereof, or
otherwise, to construct, maintain, operate, replace, remove, re-
new, and enlarge lines of pipe, conduits, cables, wires, poles,
and other convenient structures, equipment and fixtures for the,
ope~ation of gas pipe lines,'telegraphic and telephone lines,
railroad lines, and for the transportation or distribution of
electric energy, petroleum and its products, ammonia, water,
,and incidental purposes, including access and the right to keep
the property fr'ee from inflammable materials, and wood growth,
and otherwise protect the same from all hazards in, upon and
over the street or part thereof proposed to be vacated.
