RESOLUTION NO. 4801
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA SUPPORTING THE POSITION OF THE BOARD OF
EDUCATION OF THE ARCADIA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY SUPPORTING LOCAL CONTROL
OF EDUCATION AND OPPOSING THE PROPOSED METROPOLITAN
PLANS FOR DESEGREGATION
WHEREAS, the Board of Education of the Arcadia Unified School
District of Los Angeles County has adopted a resolution supporting
local control of education and opposing the proposed metropolitan
plans for desegregation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Arcadia City Council,
that in the interest of maintaining high quality education in the
City of Arcadia, that it hereby supports the position of the Board
of Education of the Arcadia Unified School District of Los Angeles
County in direct opposition to the Metropolitan Plans, and that
only the members of a local community should continue to directly
elect members of a board.of education and that only they should
make the educational decisions for that local school district.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall certify to
the adoption of this Resolution and forward copies to the appro-
priate local, county, and state officials; and also to the news
media for publication.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia
held on the 2nd day of January, 1979, by the affirmative vote of
at least three Councilmen, to wit:
